It would be hard to find someone in the Illawarra who hasn't celebrated a wedding, attended a special event or shared a meal with family and friends at The Lagoon. A family owned and run restaurant, Vania and George Harrison opened The Lagoon Seafood Restaurant in 1986. They worked hard to establish its reputation as a place where people gather to enjoy the best quality, freshest seafood.
Executive Chef Matthew Lelli and his team have curated a thoughtful and extensive menu, and it's no surprise that The Lagoon is unsurpassed when it comes to Wollongong seafood restaurants, and it's been that way for over 30 years. The Lagoon menu is a wonderland for the seafood lover.

4 of us have a really great time , however we've ordered two seafood platter for the night and the lobster is disappointing which tooooooo dry for human consumption.
Overall, the sea food platter not only lack of prawns which is usually inexpensive in supermarket, also the oysters are micro tiny small which shockingly for such big restaurant like this.
For the price that they have changed us, I think it could done better on the quality of food as well as the quality of each type seafood.
Why would I pay restaurant to make cheap seafood when I can buy them cheaper and cook it way better myself

This place is amazing. Stunning location, beautiful food, great service. The full restaurant is great for a special occasion or date and they also do casual dining outside which is really fun also. Been to weddings here which weee both outstanding also.
Highly recommend 10/10!
The breakfast and seafood share platters are to die for.

Great service and the seafood is worth every penny. Enjoyed the seafood platter for 3 between 4 guest & boy were we full after eating it all... could not fault the food or service on the day hope to go back soon again. The only down side is the parking as it was such a nice day there was no parking free near the restaurant as plenty of pple at the beach so had to park on the main street and cut through the park back to it... but that is just minor down side the food n service made up for it

Dined her recently for dinner. I had the BBQ seafood platter for one - the seafood selection was good, the sauce was delicious but the seafood was not fresh. My partner had the snapper fillet which also had a nice sauce but once again the fish was not fresh. The snapper dish also came with potatoes and broccoli, which was not listed on the menu so had ordered a side that we did not finish. Was disappointed when you pay that much for a meal and cannot even get fresh seafood. Cannot fault the service.

This was an interesting dining experience. The waiter was very friendly and had good banter. We ordered a couple of bloody mary oyster shots which were nice. The Asian style scallops were perfectly cooked and tasty. I ordered the barramundi with bbq prawn. I would've hoped to have got more than 1 prawn in the dish. But the fish and sauce to go with it was beautiful. The other fish we got was a snapper fillet which was delicious. The place itself could've used a little TLC. It gives off a cheap wedding function centre vibe as the carpets are stained and some of the chairs are a bit tatty. For the

We are regular customers!! We have come twice previously with poor experiences hoping they were unfortunate. Unfortunately this restaurant has definitely deteriorated with the food and amenities along with the… management mimicking our concerns in a very disrespectful way. We expressed we want to continue coming to our local restaurant for all festive meals. But the management hand mimicked our concern as she walk away from our table. Unfortunately we will not be returning on the regular until we have heard with improvements.

Went there for lunch, had the rudest waiter. Mains came out cold - my partner had seafood which was so over cooked it was not edible. We tried to see the manager and they lied about the manager not being there.… And then dismissed my partner at the front counter. DO NOT GO here , the place has really let itself go. Recommendation … Harbour front is the place to go for good service, good food and a great experience in Wollongong.

I was very disappointed with the Xmas menu and service. Our table had 10 adults and 6 children. The food was very ordinary and basic. The children choice fish and chips/ snitzel. It took over an hour for them to receive a drink and the adults mostly had to go to the bar to order drinks. There was absolutely nothing special for Xmas. Compared to steamers a few years ago, I found lagoon very basic and definitely not worth the money. Kids $80 for snitzel and a coke!!!

Such a disappointing seafood experience. Our waiter was great and we left him a tip for the service and attitude, unfortunately however the $300 bill for 2 was far from warranted with the extremely dry and overcooked seafood platter. We will never return with our friends and work clients. For the chef to cook this and the manager to serve this is a clear and obvious sign of no care for its customers and pride for quality. Save your money.

Went in just to look at the menu, staff very helpful about choices to be had,unfortunately the main kitchen was being refurbished and although things seemed to be running smoothly, the Whole Steamed Snapper( which we wanted) was off the menu until a few days later. Will be returning in the future.
UPDATE:
We returned to the Lagoon 5 months later (lockdown restrictions lifted)and wasn't disappointed. Excellent service and the Baked Whole Snapper was delicious.

Our Seafood takeaway platter for two was amazing. The hot food sensational. It was truly as good as being in the restaurant eating our platter. The cold seafood just as good . A bottle of wine and garlic bread included could not be better value. Thank you Lagoon for allowing us to still buy the best Seafood in the Illawarra. We will be back.

Tasty food & a great view of the beach. This is high class dining with the expected high price. The down fall was as soon as we sat we had waiter after waiter ask for our order before we got to look at the menu and then after looking at the menu we struggled to get a waiting. Also our table was shaky however the staff were quite kind in placing a folded napkin underneath to stop it shaking. The meals are quite filling and the 3 course meal are quite reasonable for price as well. I had the sea food basket for 2 with my mother and we were both quite full after. A nice way to treat yourself every
