At Happy Minds, we give you and your family the skills you need to build a strong foundation for wellness and resilience. Our evidence-based approaches are known to increase resilience, reduce stress and anxiety and to help people flourish in various areas of their life. We are a private psychology and mental health practice in Brisbane's inner northwest suburb of Ashgrove, servicing the community across all ages and needs.
Psychologists help people of all ages live happier, healthier and more productive lives. At Happy Minds we offer a holistic approach and put in the extra effort to liaise across medical, educational/work and other settings to help you achieve your goals. We adopt a strengths-based approach rather than a disease, medical-model that focuses on deficits.

Services
Our dedicated team of psychologists provide a comprehensive range of specialised services for children, adolescents, adults and the community. Our team is motivated by working in partnership with our clients to empower them to build psychological flexibility and wellbeing. We are inspired from our daily interactions with clients to build a client-centred practice that is meaningful and fulfilling for them and our team.
Dr Sacha Rombouts founded Happy Minds Australia to provide exceptional psychological services and products to people seeking positive changes in their world. At Happy Minds, we are passionate about helping people of all ages to learn the skills to successfully deal with life's challenges and to be happy.
Happy Minds focuses on the whole person, recognising your strengths rather than focusing on deficits or traditional disease-based models of mental illness. This holistic approach means that we understand our clients come to us with many skills already and are the 'experts' in their own lives. We build on this to work collaboratively towards achieving meaningful goals for the client.
No, you do not need a referral to access a private psychologist. We accept self-referrals from clients, as well as from medical professionals, schools, and legal services. However, you may benefit from a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) under the Medicare Better Access Program. This funding program provides a Medicare rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.
Please bring any relevant reports from school, or other professionals such as speech therapists, OT, etc. Alternatively, you can email these reports in advance. It is best to bring a snack in case your child becomes hungry. Please remember to bring your child's glasses. It is also a good idea to cut fingernails short, since we do most of the assessment on iPads, although this is not essential.
