I will travel back to Australia, on a sessional basis, to work in Theatre of the Oppressed with Young First Nation People in remote Communities throughout Australia. Sawatdee and Thanks. Everyday is a New Adventure. Born in Nong Hin, a small village in the mystical North East Issan region of Thailand, Chaloem is the youngest of seven children.
He learned at his Mother's knees the simple values of gentleness, resolve, loyalty and truthfulness. He leads in his Kitchen through example: his instructions are quiet, patient, simple and genuine. His staff call him "Pi Loem" meaning "older brother". He shuns the limelight and with eyes cast down and the classic Thai "wai", shyly accepts the plaudits from his guests and students.

We have dined many times as a couple and with a large group over the last 10 or so years. You can certainly tell the food is prepared with love, well presented exquisite flavours combined with fine dining, soft lighting and a pleasant soothing ambience.Thank you Bryan, Chaloem and team especially for a consistent and pleasant personable experience!

Wow I just read Sue Lovelace's review. I cannot even fathom a review like that for Paladarr. I have been a guest there at least six time over the past year and I found that the food was exceptional, and staff were courteous and attentive. The ambiance was wonderful and unlike some restaurants I have visited, it was warm with an open fire as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wanted an exceptional experience.

Worst dining experience I've ever had. We had insects/bugs crawling through our appetizer then had to wait an hour and a half for entree but the main came out first then was sent back. Finally we were ready for our main and it was cold and dried up. Flavours we're good but the staff and waiting times were a big disappointment. Lots of training needed for staff who all seemed to be under the legal age of employment. Sorry to say we will not be going back there again and unfortunately we were not the only table who were disappointed with the service/time waiting for food and whole dining experience

EXCELLENT QUALITY FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE
Great Thai restaurant with authentic dishes and nice wine list. Service is brilliant. Three of us were there on a recent Wednesday night and our waiter, Sam, was very attentive and knowledgeable. There were too many tempting items on the menu so we let Sam loose to create a menu for us - it was delicious and just the right amount of food.
The restaurant has an "oldy worldy" elegance and subdued lighting which makes it a very comfortable dining room. Noise levels are low making table conversation very pleasant.
The food is very fresh and has a genuine

Wonderfully authentic flavours with a delightful piquant aftertaste. The Tom Yum soup layered with Thai classic ingredients. Set in an old bank building makes for a great atmosphere. A fireplace inside delivers a warm Winter welcome in this charming Alphington restaurant. Waiting staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. I love how the chicken in the Thai green curry is roasted first then macerated in the sauce with other flavours and vegetables to improve texture and taste.

Had dinner with friends via a Living Social deal (although most of them had been there in the past). It was a lovely experience. We had a great private room. Service was good. We had a fixed menu. The serving sizes were not massive, which we all thought was excellent. Every course was well executed. Not stunningly surprising, but a very nice, unhurried experience.

So, this has to be one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. Having lived in northern Thailand, I found this the most authentic as well. Food is crazy good (Red duck curry!), and the mixed tray entrée is fun for all. I've taken my son there a few times and sat outside in the garden. Great experience.
