Stayed November 2021. Good location close to Muddy's Play Ground and the Esplanade restaurants, not far from the Reef Terminal either where you'll get on for any Barrier Reef Tours. Nice rooms with modern look, air con good which is essential in the humidity of Cairns. (lifts look a bit aged though probably on the list to update next). All your linen and towels changed regularly, staff helpful and friendly addressing any issues you have quickly.

Wonderful place to stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are serviced daily with free WiFi.
The hotel is located right on the esplanade and straight across the road is a fenced park for the kids.
Room was clean, neat and tidy and although we didn't have the best view and the door was a bit difficult to open, it was still nice to sit out on the balcony of an evening
There are heaps of restaurants within easy walking distance, and a woolworths 15 min walk away.
I definitely recommend Muddys Cafe across the road to the left for excellent burgers super close by.

A quality hotel at a reasonable price within easy strolling distance of the CBD. I had a great, updated sea-view suite which was really clean, well-appointed, spacious, light and airy with a double balcony and awesome view over the bay. Super helpful reception team and just a great place to stay. The bed was a tad lumpy but still fine, and the 'kitchenette' was basically a microwave, fridge and sink but perfect for my 5-day stay. The guest laundry was a bonus (and good value), pool was small but clean, though gets shaded quickly. Unfortunately the on-site cafe/restaurant was closed for renovations

I was only here for a few nights during a multi-city tour and this was the hotel the tour company choose. All about the location, close to the airport, close to many restaurants, shops and about a 15 min walk to downtown. Parking lot on site, easy for bus to pick up/drop off. Small lobby area but it was never busy. No issues checking in.
My room had a nice size balcony with views of the ocean and other hotels. Two queen sized beds and a small bathroom. Everything was clean just a bit outdated. Housekeeping starts very early and can be loud. I opted for no housekeeping services during my stay

The Cairns Plaza is an extremely well priced place in a pretty central location. It's about 15 minutes walk to downtown so if you're planning to spend a lot of time there, you'd be better off with one of the hotels over there. Since we were in town todo tours and go out on a boat, this was a great central place to be (even if it's just a bit dated) with just a short walk down to the docks, out to restaurants, bottle shops and a pharmacy, and easy for cans and tour buses to pick up.
There's a breakfast (not included with most reservations) so we just sorted ourselves.

Cairns Plaza Hotel is located in a calm part of the Esplanade. It means some walking to the downtown, but no more than 15 mins. If you are lucky and you stay in the refurbished part of the hotel (I did), it is really spacious and well-equipped. There are more than enough towels, coffee packets replenished daily, even cookies.
The staff were polite and quite helpful.
The only drawback was lack of in-room Wifi. This meant for me spending hours in the lobby. However, given the fact that the internet is a luxurious good in Australia, I wasnot very disappointed by this fact.
All in all, I would
