Whilst tennis players make up 10% of people affected, tennis elbow is more commonly seen with repetitive activities such as computer or manual work. A mallet finger occurs when the end of the finger bends and you cannot straighten it. This is caused by an injury to the structure that lifts the fingertip, the extensor tendon.
Initial inflammation of the tendon and surrounding fluid (synovium) can lead to limitation of normal tendon excursion. This then leads to further thickening or increased viscosity of the tendon and fluid surrounding it which further increases frictional forces as the tendons run in a relatively narrow tunnel.
The exact cause of Dupuytren's contracture is unknown. It is a disease of the fascia of the palm and digits. The fascia is the layer of the connective tissue that binds the soft tissue structures - muscles blood vessels, nerves and tendons - of the hand and keeps them in place. A bit like the glad wrap keeping a sandwich together.
Hand Therapists treat a large variety of injuries to the hand, wrist, fingers, elbows and shoulders. Frequently we treat injuries involving the fingers including their tendons, ligaments, joints and bones. Our fingers are called upon to undergo significant amounts of stress and tension in the course of everyday life-including work, leisure and sporting activities.

Really professional and helped me immeasurably with a painful back issue where I couldn't even walk. Now after a series of treatments back to full unrestricted health.
If in the unfortunate event I require physio, would come here again without thinking.

Very unprofessional. Literally just read of an article he had printed out. Gave me limited advice for my hand injury. I thought a hand specialist practice would have more knowledgeable and more professional physios inside their practice. Did not suggest any kind of healing treatment, Just wanted to make me a hand splint and send me on my way. I've found better solutions to my injury just of my own research than what this practice has suggested.
