An icon in Melbourne's south, the Elsternwick Hotel has been a mainstay in the Elsternwick community and beyond for years. Located on Nepean Highway, we're sitting across from Elsternwick Park in the main hub of Glen Huntly Road. We believe in quality food and friendly service. It's at the core of what we do and how we operate.
We're the perfect place for families to meet for an overdue long lunch, for mates to catch up over a beer and watch the game, and to celebrate a milestone birthday or special event. We're everything a local should be and more. Inspired by our surroundings and Victorian producers, we believe in sourcing locally and sustainably.

Services
Our Bistro provides a family friendly environment specialising in delicious food and quality service. Inspired by our surroundings and Victorian producers, we believe in sourcing locally and sustainably. Our menu has something for everyone, including fresh seafood, steaks, pastas, salads and all the pub classics you know and love.
Whether you're seeing in the weekend, catching up with friends or family, or stopping in for a quick drink after work, the Elsternwick Hotel is the place to be. Grab your mates and head in for a drink in our Sports Bar while catching the game. We have a huge range of ice cold beer and cider on tap, in addition to an extensive range of wine and spirits.
We strive to be at the heart of our local community by providing a place for friends to meet, for families to relax and to host local functions and events. We are the unofficial 'clubhouse' for a number of local sporting teams - a place to re-convene after matches, sell raffle tickets, celebrate victories and commiserate losses.

Was very happy with the dining experience within the Bistro here the other night. The food was fantastic and we were seated close enough to the service window to hear excellent kitchen discipline, which was clearly reflected in the quality of the food. Front of house staff were friendly too!
Only thing holding it back from 5 stars is the physical environment. If it wasn't daylight savings the venue would be very dully lit in the later hours, some of the tables could do with a bit of a makeover, and I recommend they laminate the menus as well! Other than that, was very happy with everything.

Parma was rubbish, steak sanga was ok but as it can often be, the scotch fillet was grisley but it still tasted nice. More visable signage for where to enter is a must, as we walked almost around the entire place from the rear car park to find the one entrance (obviously for Covid Certificate checking etc).
Have witnessed the meals slowly get worse over the past few years which is disappointing.

The Elsternwick is a halfway point for my family to meet during these latest restrictions. We had a wonderful time getting to catch up, the food was fresh and delicious and the staff welcoming. We felt extremely safe in the knowledge that we checked in, were adequately spaced with other diners and saw the staff cleaning throughout. What must be very trying times for any business and these limited numbers, the staff are to be commended on doing a stand up job.
