The Yoga Nook is an Iyengar Yoga School in the inner-west Sydney hub of Dulwich Hill. Established in 2002, it was started by Linda Apps, after she served an apprenticeship with Peter Thomson at The Glebe Yoga School. The school runs a number of classes to suit differing abilities. We operate on a term basis, with 4 terms roughly coinciding with NSW school terms.
During term breaks we run special events like intensives, workshops, led practices, personal practice programmes (PPPs) and retreats. All classes are run by highly qualified, skilled and dedicated practitioners, in a peaceful and supportive environment. Immerse yourself in 5 nights and 4.5 days of yoga, meditation, delicious vegetarian food and the beautiful natural surroundings of Emu Park, a small coastal village.

Welcome to the Yoga Nook, a BKS Iyengar yoga school in the inner-west Sydney hub of Dulwich Hill. Established in 2002 by Linda Apps, the Yoga Nook has four experienced teachers taught by the most senior Iyengar Teachers in Australia. The school offers classes for general and more advanced students and offers intensives, workshops and retreats to help students progress along the yoga path.
All classes are taught by skilled and dedicated practitioners, and there is a high level of support from all teachers. Our teachers are highly qualified, and have passed a rigorous assessment process and continue their study with senior Australian teachers and by returning to the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India to attend classes and conventions, or are in training.
At The Yoga Nook we teach Iyengar Yoga, named after Mr BKS Iyengar, a profound practitioner and teacher who died in 2014. His family continue to teach in his tradition at RIMYI, his Institute in Pune, India. Iyengar Yoga develops intelligence, clarity, vitality and space within the body. Props are sometimes used to bring more clarity to the asanas and make them more accessible.

Amazing, highly qualified teachers and a welcoming, easy going environment. Iyengar yoga is different from your typical gym or flow yoga class - more like a group physio session! You will notice huge physical changes in a short time - greatly improving problems like back aches and posture issues. Iyengar yoga focuses on technique and alignment to give a deeper, comprehensive understanding of the poses which is invaluable for any yoga practice!

I started at Yoga Nook with a sore and tight lower back. After only 5 weeks it has improved immensely. This is due to Linda's care and individual attention in each class, teaching specific postures and movements that assist and not aggravate existing ailments. Linda always makes you feel comfortable and secure and is genuinely interested for you to get the most from each class. I highly recommend the Yoga Nook and I'm so glad I found it.

When I say, restful, I don't mean 'go to sleep' restful, but a sense of calmness. Which can only be a good thing!
This was my introduction to yoga, having shied away from joining a class in another part of Sydney (decades ago) on account of my long-held impressions (some right, some wrong) of the yoga community. Flexible contorted positions that are impossible to achieve. And why? But Linda Apps' studio is different: it's unpretentious, above a row of shops in Dulwich Hill, down the road from the pub and across the road from coffee shops. Not that you'd be looking to unwind after a session at
