Your feet have carried you around for many years and you want them to carry you for many more years. As we age, so do our feet, and problems with feet in old age can be one of the main reasons you are kept off your feet. As podiatrists, we know foot health care is the key to keeping you healthy and in great shape.
Many diabetic patients don't realise how easily they can cause trauma and damage to their feet. Podiatrists play an important health care role in the assessment and management of the diabetic foot. Diabetes disrupts the vascular system, causing damage to the nerves and blood supply. Diabetes affects the feet significantly, thereby making foot care necessary to prevent serious complications developing.
An ingrown toenail occurs when the edge of the nail, usually on the big toe, grows into the skin adjacent to it. An ingrown toenail may be very painful as the toenail digs into the flesh and can result in swelling around the affected nail, redness, pus or even an abscess. If left untreated, an ingrown toenail can progress into an infection or even an abscess that would require surgical treatment.

Im a recently diagnosed diabetic and part of my ECP plan was to get a podiatrist. my doctor found highett podiatry and asked if they accept ECP, they said yes and so i rang and booked. when i rang i also asked about ECP and bulk billing and they said yes to me. so i booked. when i arrived i had filled online a questionnaire and told to sit and… wait. 2 ladies came out 1 which im sure now is the boss owner, both talking about covid and kids returning to school. irrelevant when im the next patient. i went in and handed my ECP to reception. the lady that treated me didnt seem very caring let
