Knee pain can be caused by more than just direct knee injuries, often resulting due to poor choice of footwear, inadequate exercising surfaces (such as on bitumen or soft sand), and abnormal alignment of the foot and lower leg. Bay Podiatry can provide treatment for knee pain in a variety of ways, potentially including orthoses, exercises, physiotherapy, anti-inflammatory medication and recommendations for appropriate footwear.
The Achilles tendon is the largest and strongest tendon in the body. It connects the 2 large calf muscles (the gastrocnemius and soleus) to the back of the heel bone (calcaneus). The tendon gives us the ability to rise up onto our toes a nd is very important in facilitating walking and running.

Achilles pain is usually a result of tendinitis caused by tight or fatigued calf muscles which transfer too much of the burden of walking or running to the Achilles tendon. If the tendon is placed under too much stress then it will tighten and become over worked. The tendon becomes inflamed and over time can produce a covering of scar tissue, which is less flexible than the tendon.
An ingrown toenail is when the nail is curved downward and grows into the skin, usually at the sides of the nail. This digging in of the nail irritates the skin, often creating pain, redness, swelling and warmth in the toe. If an ingrown nail causes a break in the skin, bacteria may enter and cause an infection, which can lead to exudate draining from the area.
Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that affects the way the body uses food. The food we eat is converted into sugar also known as glucose by a hormone called insulin. Insulin is produced in the pancreas (organ near the stomach) and is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy for the body.
