Eight Queen en-suite Guest Suites are fresh, clean and light, with a luxurious yet relaxed style that welcomes you from the moment you step inside. Each room has it's own colour palette and different objects d'art making each suite unique with special touches. Whitewashed walls in French Provincial Farmhouse style with polished timber floors, large decorative mirrors and white timber furniture.
Relax in our spacious fully self contained cottage with full kitchen facilities, overlooking our beautiful Semillon vineyard and fruit filled Orchard. Families, friends and colleagues gather in this comfortable yet superbly appointed Cottage with room to enjoy company or to retreat and relax with space and style.
Thistle Hill comprises 20 acres of verdant grounds populated by small copses of native trees, fruit trees, flowering shrubs, manicured hedgerows, grassed areas, grassy reeds, tall eucalyptus and a working vineyard. There are plenty of photo opportunities, especially around the dam where bird life and Kangaroo's congregate.
Thistle Hill Guest House is right in the heart of the Hunter Wine Region, which includes numerous wineries, ranging from large multi-national to small family run operations, many of which are popular tourist destinations. Attractions in the area include numerous wineries and Pokolbin Village. The Hunter Valley Gardens span over 25 hectares of land in the heart of the Hunter vineyards at the foot of the Brokenback Range.

We stayed in the Superior King room, which although was not as big as expected, had a comfortable king size bed, nice interior and lovely bathroom with natural lighting from the skylight. We were greeted with a complimentary cheese platter, chocolate and bottle of wine, and the hosts also gave us homemade brownies the next day which was a lovely gesture. However, our room had a lot of spider and bugs during our stay (not to mention a huge spider and web on the ceiling when we checked-in), and there was also one night when we had no running water because there was a problem with the pumps. Got a superior king bed for 3 nights. But on my first, I saw the problems! Aircon non funtional, ceiling fan almost dead, mosquitos in the room, bathroom with spider webs on the ceiling, and eventually big spider in the bathroom. And I saw the spider in the bathroom after complaining and they assuring that bathroom have been cleaned and checked. This shows laziness is never justifiable. Left the place for another resort after the second night!

I booked the 2 bedroom cottage for my son and his wife for their honeymoon. The accommodation was amazing and top it off, had an open fire. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful. The owners and employees are wonderful. I am thinking of booking myself in for a weekend. If there was a higher star score than 5 I would make it a 10.

Jo and David were really lovely hosts, friendly, informative, helpful and made our stay all the more enjoyable. Thistle Hill is the perfect escape and a great location next to all the wineries (it's right next door to Yellow Billy & Botanica - best restaurants!). We had a great stay, the cottage was the perfect place for a friends weekend away.

What an absolute pleasure to be reunited with this beautiful property. We have been through two different owners of the property, now onto three - Jo and John. Thank you both for a memorable and welcoming return. It’s a little different now with two children. They also loved the experience and thank you both for being accomodating. A huge thank you to Arlene whom the children grew very fond of! We are excited to be part of the journey in seeing the property transform into a bigger and better place!

What an exquisite place to stay! Jo and John are the most welcoming, accomodating hosts. Everything at Thistle Hill is done with such a personalised touch. The rooms and facilities are beautiful and the breakfast is divine! We absolutely loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking at getting away in the Hunter Valley.

Gorgeous place to stay for one night or more. Our room was small but very cosy and warm. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming which made our nights getaway fuss free and relaxing. Brekkie is included in the tariff which is served in a separate Pavillon overlooking the expansive grounds. Great value for money.

Jo and John are fabulous hosts, providing both clean and inviting accommodation away from the business of central Pokolbin. Breakfasts were delicious and varied. Jo and John’s recommendations of eateries, places of interest and vineyards to visit, was so helpful and spot on :) We throughly enjoyed spending a long weekend celebrating our 20th Wedding anniversary at Thistle Hill and will definitely be back ASAP :)

You will love it.
I recently stayed at Thistle Hill with a group of 20 ladies. The new owners were so accommodating. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and the location and facilities were just gorgeous. I highly recommend a stay here next time you are in the Hunter. They have a range of accommodation options so give them a call.

Donna and Stuart take great care of this place. You can tell it is loved by its owners! Communication was great and the bedroom we had was just gorgeous. The bed was AMAZINGLY comfortable - the perfect place to wind down after a day of wine tasting. They really go the extra mile here with small touches such as - a bottle of their own wine chilled upon your arrival, some sweet wine for after your meal, chocolates, and one day we came back and had some brownies waiting for us!
