The First Peoples have been passing through the land on which Silvermere is located for thousands of years. In 1813, Blaxland Wentworth and Lawson noted the magnificent view of the Cumberland plain from a high point on the eastern side of our land. Our main driveway was once part of 'Cox's Road', constructed by convicts in 1814 and the first Australian 'highway'.
The house was designed in 1923 by BJ Waterhouse who was also responsible for May Gibb's 'Nutcote' and the setting that surrounds Sydney's famous Archibald Fountain. The guesthouse was originally a cool climate retreat for the extended family of Horace Edward Broughton Young; one of the owners of extensive sugar plantations and a sugar mill at Fairymead near Bundaberg in Queensland.

Services
It is our objective to have as little impact as possible on our environment and maintain resources for future generations. The existing fabric of the house constructed in 1923 was restored with minimal use of new fittings and materials. This is a more efficient and conservative use of resources than construction of a new building.
Set in 5500 sq metres of cool climate gardens Silvermere offers 4 different accommodation experiences in a 1920s restored country house. All accommodation suites have beautiful views of the gardens, quality linen and towels, toiletries, coffee and tea making facilities, large LCD TVs, free wifi and private bathrooms.
This original but smaller room includes queen bed with a spacious veranda overlooking the gardens. It is attached to a large Turkish style Spa bathroom located in the west wing hallway. Gowns are provided to ensure your privacy. The western doors lead onto a veranda with views of the beautiful grounds and gardens.
The unique plants and animals that live in the Blue Mountains reflect an extraordinary story of the evolution of Australia's unique vegetation and animal communities. It is an area of breathtaking views, rugged tablelands, sheer cliffs, deep valleys and swamps. The Greater Blue Mountains was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2000.
When staying overnight take some time sit and enjoy the view, and explore gardens or listen to the birds and frogs. Silvermere's 5500 sq metre of heritage listed gardens feature a range of cool climate exotics and natives. Clear winter skies and bare trees allow spectacular views of the Blue Mountains National Park and the distant lights of Sydney.

We spent 2 lovely days at Silvermere Guest House and we were given the Hay Room which was very comfortable with a king bed. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully cooked and our Host, Lew was very helpful. The best part of staying at Silvermere was having Silks Restaurant attached. The food was simply delicious and was soo good, we went back the next night! The Host, Stewart was charming and very helpful and we will be back for some more relaxing at Silvermere with their beautiful gardens, and for another good meal at Silks.

My wife and I spent 3 nights in the Hay Room. We had our own adjacent bathroom. All of the services were "perfect" and we could not fault the package. The room and bathroom were kept spotless every day. Much thought was given to our comfort and convenience. The period style building is kept faithful to its historic origins. It is excellently maintained and the grounds are beautiful. Atmosphere and views are so good one can spend hours on the premises alone. Walking distance to Wentworth Falls town centre. The included breakfast was amazing quality, with a diverse fresh fruit entree and a choice

An amazing quiet place to stay in the mountains. The rooms and ground have a classic regal feel that are second to none. The hospitality is outstanding and you really do want for nothing. I highly recommend this little gem of a place to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay in the mountains. Will definitely be staying again.
