Avoid this company, particularly if you are female. I am writing this public review as I had an unpleasant experience with a male instructor who was totally inappropriate and made me feel very uncomfortable. Some of the comments made during the lesson included asking me if I had a boyfriend, if I had any good-looking friends, telling me about a student he had slept with and sharing other details about his personal life during the lesson. This is highly dodgy grooming behaviour, unprofessional in the extreme, and technically harassment. I raised the behaviour with the manager and the complaint was

My first instructor (manual, Peter) was great, had a calm vibe and was relaxed. I decided that I would rather learn automatic first.
For automatic I switched instructors (I won't name), my second instructor was awful. Consistently late and always finished the lesson early, would yank the steering wheel away. On my final lesson with him he was texting on his phone for the drive, which I checked is illegal.
I was given a free lesson with another instructor (Edward),which was wonderful. He was very calm and relaxed.

I was supervising my learner driver, we were at a giveway, and it was a new intersection he had not driven through before so I was explaining how it was different. A VIP signed car began honking at us from behind, repeatedly! We had L plates displayed, and we only paused slightly longer than normal at an intersection. Extremely unprofessional, considering they are in the business of learner drivers, and should be the most understanding in these situations.

Such a waste of money. As all the other comments say, the instructors have a massive attitude problem. They actually get annoyed at you for lack of skill, the service which you are paying them for them to build. They don't explain any part of the process then snap aggressively at you if you make a mistake! After all this they then have the nerve to tease you if you appear nervous! Potentially the most unprofessional business I've ever experienced (and not just driving schools!) Go to anyone else.
P.S. the office feels like a dodgy 70's scam house and stinks of smoking.

I had a wonderful driving instructor and managed to pass my first assessment. I was extremely nervous and my instructor managed to keep me calm and focused. Peter is a highly skilled, professional instructor and I would not have done this without him! Thank you so much Peter! I will most definitely recommend V.I.P. driving school to everyone! Now I can enjoy driving around Hobart! Thanks once again😬

From my personal experience, I received incredible service. Always respectful and professional, my instructor was very supportive. And this week, two friends and I who have been taking driving lessons at VIP passed our respective tests which prove how good they are. Thumbs up :)

I had a wonderful experience with VIP driving school, I'm quite an anxious driver but they were patient and kind. I learnt automatic and had lessons with three of their instructors over the past few months. They knew to speak quietly and calmly to me even when I made mistakes, they would stop and draw me diagrams whenever I got confused and they were a wealth of knowledge when it came to the P's test. Happy to say that I passed first go!
I'm so grateful and pleased with my experience with them, I couldn't recommend them more.

I learned with another driving school before and frankly speaking the driving instructor does nothing but to lower my self confidence even after putting all they thought me into actions such as head checks and signals. Eventually I did not sat for my driver's exam because I have to go back to Malaysia for some family reason and that was 3 years ago. They passed me on my L2 test but my first driving lesson with them was pretty bad. There was next to no instruction and the instructor got mad at me when I made a wrong turn. I then booked some driving lessons with someone else in the business and she is doing a good job. My mum later received a rude phone call from the receptionist stating that I had missed driving lessons when I hadn't. Apparently they had mixed me up with someone else who was actually missing lessons. Never the less, it was a very rude phone call and I am not impressed.
