Services
Sloping or difficult block? PlaceMate architecture is all about solutions. We raise and reposition houses to open up bright spaces that let in light, air and hidden views you didn't even know you had. PlaceMate also designs complete new builds. Sometimes it can be better and cheaper to achieve your dream home by starting from scratch.
As Brisbane architects, Queenslander renovations are PlaceMate Architect's bread and butter. We've designed renovations to over 400 of these historic timber homes originally built from 1900 to World War Two. Found all over Brisbane, Queenslanders are defined by the Brisbane City Council as a "Character House" in a "Demolition Control Precinct".
Most of us get just one chance to renovate the family home. But there's no economy in a quick builder's-fix if the outcome is poor design and a loss of value in not only your home but also your quality of life. You may think what you want is obvious - say, a kitchen refit, a bathroom update, a Brisbane deck out the back - and the next step is simply a matter of talking to builders.
In our experience, the best collaborative projects inspire everyone involved: owners, designers and builders, craftsmen and suppliers, and the market. Successful projects result in a finished product that leaves everyone involved proud and satisfied. The sound bones and ne details of a well-built home last beyond a lifetime.
For Renovations, our free on-site consultation gives the opportunity for us to inspect your home and help you decide how much - or how little - you'd like PlaceMate to help with. It's up to you how much change and what level of detail you'd like us to take. Here's an outline of PlaceMate Architect's architectural process - the steps we take to bring your dream home to life - and our cost estimates.

I cannot recommend Jan and her team highly enough. They understood our needs perfectly and translated them into a beautiful, practical and cost effective design for our new home. Additionally they were able to guide us through the processes of certification, development approval, builder selection and the choice of fixtures and fittings. I would not hesitate to use PlaceMate Architects again.
