It all began back in 1954, when our founder Luigi Grollo put his mind to starting up a humble family business with big dreams. Over three generations Grocon has evolved from the 1960's company that specialised in small concrete works, pavements and pools in Victoria, to a structural sub-contractor in the 1970's including the Darwin Homes project following the devastation of Cyclone Tracy.
In the 1980's Grocon became a major player in the construction industry with the successful completion of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, 120 Collins Street, the World Congress Centre in Melbourne and our first integrated development and construction project the iconic Rialto Towers in Melbourne.

Grocon's quest to improve safety is ongoing, uncompromising and relentless. Safety is the responsibility of every person who works for Grocon or who works on a Grocon site. No mature player in the construction industry is foolish enough to ignore safety but Grocon has walked the talk for so many years that a safety culture, governed by facts and actions rather than notions, has become embedded in the way we do things.
Grocon has long lead the construction and property industry to build a more sustainable world; indeed, our Chairman was a founding member of the Green Building Council of Australia. At Grocon we understand that a culture of sustainability is critical to the future of both our planet and our industry.
Being in construction, we have the unique ability to actually lend a hand in a practical way and so we do, every single day.'. Homelessness, disaster recovery, women in construction, indigenous employment, early intervention. Being a site-based operation, Grocon's community activities are often generated at the site level.
How do you use airspace above a heritage building? It's a vexing question and particularly difficult when the preconditions are to leave the original building completely untouched. Grocon devised a unique steel frame structural engineering scheme that cantilevered over the top of the original historic building.
Grocon Construction works throughout the Eastern Seaboard of Australia building amazing and enduring real estate for ourselves and for third parties. We find that this combination of customers has helped us create our unique competitive advantage; working for ourselves as developer helps us innovate and push the boundaries of design, productivity and construction.
