Ashihara Karate International is a separate and distinct system and organisation started and developed by Kaicho Hoosain Narker with the assistance of many Branch Chiefs. This does not tell the complete story, so a short historical review is in order. This original school was and still is in Retreat, Cape Town, South Africa, then named Oyama Karate Dojo Kyokushinkai, now the Ashihara S.A. International Honbu.
The system of karate taught and practised in this school (or "dojo", i.e. training hall) is the Japanese Ashiharakai style. This style or Ryuha, was founded by the late Master - Hideyuki Ashihara, a man who devoted all his energy into creating a scientific and more safer karate. Hoosain Narker, have had the honour and the opportunity to train at the Honbu Dojo of Ashihara Karate in Matsuyama City in Japan.

Since opening his first karate school in Yawatahama, a small seaside village in Ehime Prefecture, in 1965, he has devoted himself to the pursuit of the most rational, logical karate techniques. As a Shihan in Kyokushin Karate, his ability in avoiding an attack by moving to the opponents back or blind side made him one of the most sought after teachers.
