Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre
With our headquarters at Warners Bay and four great locations at Redhead, Green Hills, Morisset and Waratah, we offer martial arts instruction in Chitokai Karate to all ages, Okinawan weaponry, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and Hunter Fight Fit, with programs tailored to suit the ages and skill levels of our members.

At Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre we have a diverse range of programmes aimed at providing our students with the best possible outcome. Our son is a beautiful, gentle soul. Karate is a wonderful way for him to develop confidence, resilience and persistence in larger sports and social groups. Levi started his karate journey 2 years ago at age 4. In this time we have watched him grow and thrive.
Services
We believe in our community and we believe in the value of martial arts now more than ever in people's lives and so are determined that you and your family can benefit from what we know our programs bring to people's lives during these most challenging of times. As a gesture of our commitment to our community during these difficult times we would like to offer a free month of training regardless of changes in NSW lockdown restrictions.
The Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre headquarters at Warners Bay was established in 1989, one of the first full-time martial arts centres in the region. The business has now expanded to 5 centres located across the Hunter area. These centres offer a place to build discipline and focus as you work hard to perfect each move.
The Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre headquarters at Warners Bay was established in 1989, one of the first full-time martial arts centres in the region. With around 500 students and over 80 classes per week, we are able to offer a large variety of training programs to suit all ages and levels.

The Warners Bay centre is the nation al headquarters of the Australian Chitokai Karate Association, and classes for all ages and abilities are held every day, as well as Okinawan traditional weaponry (Matayoshi Kobudo), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for men, women and children, and Hunter Fightfit (fitness kickboxing) classes.
Run by Sensei Taj Hassan, with the assistance of black belts and Sempai Liana Hammersley, we had record numbers of new students coming to join us at the Grand Opening, and we hope to continue meeting new faces at this exciting new location! We have received brilliant feedback about the centre thus far, made possible by our dedicated staff.
Our full time centre at Morisset is run by Sensei Lesley and her team of qualified instructors, who make Morisset a very friendly and welcoming centre. Sensei Lesley is supported by a black belt team that she has grown in house, providing their experience and support to the Morisset students.

Together they run a family oriented centre with a growing group of dedicated students, creating a wonderful learning atmosphere and a welcoming dojo for students of all ages and their families. The younger family members can start in our Kinder Kicks class for children aged 18 months to 3 years.

Probably the silliest thing I done and join. But a great group of people that are both passionate and personable about what they do. Really enjoyable.

Recently completed a Rock and Water Course at HVMAC and was fortunate enough to have some HVMAC staff completing the course too. I was Blown away by the professionalism that these staff members showed for the entirety of the course. They made learning so much easier as their skills were put to good use. They assisted the instructor when needed, with such discipline and without hesitation and HVMAC should be so proud to be displaying such mature and dedicated staff. The equipment and venue was unreal. Thank you to Brian and staff for your kind hospitality. What a great facility.

Great activity to help our child grow in confidence and maturity. Staff are very friendly, approachable, and teach well to the young children. Can tell that all staff are passionate. Venue is big and clean, parking is easy to get nearby, and classes are good value for money.

I train in both traditions karate and kobudo. My whole family does it too in a family friendly centric environment. There are many programs that cater for all levels and ages without compromising the transitions and values of the martial arts. You will be taught by world class instructors, and made to feel welcome and supported in your martial arts journey. You will make many close friends along the way as well. I only wish I started when I was younger.

My son has been training online with Hunter Valley Martial Arts while the dojo has been closed for the last couple of months.
They have been fantastic! The effort they've put in to making their weekly online classes, as well as being able to access live zoom sessions with the senseis has been amazing.
It's clear they care about their students, with frequent check ins and even a personal delivery of belt and certificate for his recent grading which would have taken a lot of organisation and time.
Thankyou Hunter Valley Martial Arts Centre for all that you do for your students!
