The kitchen had a pan with fat still sitting inside it. The bathrooms sink is extremely stiff and sounds awful. The reception staff were incredibly rude. There are over a thousand dollar fines for any steam. I paid 700 for this room and honestly I want my money back. The staff to clean the room never warned me that they would be coming on a certain day. So I was walking from my room and they just walked in (I was in a less then decent state) and I never heard a knock or a yell that they were coming. It feels disgusting here.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times but this time we found it to be well below our expectations. For location it is great, but then everything went downhill from there. On arrival we had received some codes to get in the front door and retrieve our key. We got in the front door OK and retrieved our key. We went up to our floor and found our room. However we couldn’t get either of the cards to open the door even thought the green light came on. After half an hour of pushing and pulling we were not sure what to do. I was about to try and find a number to ring for help when my husband

Absolutely terrible experience. Personal items valuing close to $300 were stolen from a family member whose recollection was that they stored it in the luggage storage area. Concierge claimed to have CCTV of the individual placing their item down in a semi-public area and being picked up by another guest. They had no inclination to identify the guest or request the item be returned. Refused to provide CCTV footage without police report.
Police report was made and hotel informed that police had requested they save the footage. When police investigated, hotel claimed that CCTV footage did not exist

Room very outdated. Bathroom light not working. Funky smell in bathroom and smell of BO/sweat in the living room which seems to be embedded into the sofa. The sofa itself is disgraceful, old and extremely uncomfortable to sit on. Plenty of kitchen utensils provided, but no hobs to cook anything on. Go figure. Warnings in the bathroom that if you cause too much steam the fire service may be called out with a cost greater than $1000. Perhaps you should look into fixing the issue rather than passing the buck on to your customers.
What’s more annoying is that it seems to be a lucky dip, some rooms

No idea why there aren't better reviews. I've stayed here a number of times when I've travelled to Brisbane on business and recreation. I must say that for the price you pay, the quality of rooms, and convenience of the location its gotta be one of if not the most ideal lodgings in the city. I have been able to stay in each room type (courtesy of a free upgrade a couple of times which i didn't even ask for) and even their standard room is decent for a short stay. For longer, the superior and deluxe apartments are perfect. No complaints, would stay again.

Disgusting customer service skills and poor levels of hospitality I wouldn't even rate it one star to be honest you people should be ashamed of the sham you are running there and have some consideration for your clients wellbeing. No management on site to assist with major disasters.
Stay away from the Abbey otherwise Bed Bugs won't be the least of your worries

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. When I saw the outside I thought, wow it can’t be that bad. Well, it really is, THAT BAD! Would much rather pay a few hundred more for a decent hotel and have learnt my lesson. Shower was filthy and couldn’t bring myself to stand in the bath. Bed was broken and dirty, had to sleep on top of towels. The entire stay was a nightmare, not to mention the horrible customer service. Absolutely filthy hotel and extremely old and hideous.

Convenience
Abbey on Roma is close proximity to Roma Street Station which is a plus if you have to catch an early train from Roma Street station the next morning. It's a three room, self contained unit which as clean and had every thing I needed to be comfortable. A washer and dryer were also available.
Food and Drink
A 7-11 was close by and a subway if you're starving like I was.
Gaining entry
I did have a challenge gaining access as according to the signs I had showed up after reception hours 8:30pm, Sunday. No where on the confirmation letter did it say reception closed at 8:30pm
