A Minor Place
Tucked away on Albion St, between Sydney Rd and Lygon St - off the busy nearby main drags, our little gem has character, energy, funk and great vibe in the grain of the bespoke furniture! Enjoy a delicious sweet treat brought to you by our friendly staff who obviously enjoy being at work. Everything is familiar enough to be a home away from home, which is heavily frequented by locals, and yet unique in its niche backstreet hideaway.

Global dishes in a simple, wood-accented cafe, plus an outside area with milk-crate seats - our menu is strong on vegan options, with a variety of beverage choices, ranging from a wide array of kombucha drinks, smoothies and juices, to a full bar. We serve paper straws with our drinks (no plastics).

Awesome Brunswick vibes at A Minor Place 😎
Had the bubble and squeek recently and loved the richness of the dish and something a lil different for breakfast. Nice innovation on that one.
Nice coffee.
Intimate but cool feel amongst lovely period homes in the neighbourhood.
Nice job guys 👌

I love this cafe! Their chai lattes are my favourite and I’ve always loved how many vegan options they have, but really sad to see they recently took the vegan bowl and tofu bagel off the menu! Hope you guys can bring them back or something else vegan and yum!!!

For a cafe that was a bit out of the way, I was pleasantly surprised by its good vibes, delicious milkshakes and great food. The cafe itself was in a renovated house, and had a very cool interior. The wait staff were lovely too :)

Food is amazing, the vegan bowl and other vegan options are game changers! Come here almost every weekend. Good coffee too but one request— please please get some proper iced coffee cups!! Keep up the great work otherwise. :) A+

Excellent service. The staff are friendly and make you feel at home.
We had 2 cold brew coffee. One long mac. And one long black. Coffee was spot on.
We also ordered the smashed avo, the tostie, the minor breakfast, and some crazy bespoke concoction our friend ordered.
The food was very good. The smashed avo and minor breakfast were a hit.
The toasty was nothing spectacular. But I'm not sure what I expected with a toasty.
Good job guys!

A great experience. Staff was friendly and attentive. We rocked up at noon on a Sunday. They sat us outside and brought us coffee. We both had the brekky sandwich with sourdough bread. Sandwiches were delicious. Perfectly cooked and the jalapeño relish was the best. Everyone was super friendly. And everyone was happy. Seriously great vibe. They also have a coffee window and people sat outside with their pups. All in all, definitely five stars.

A minor place is a cute little almost-hidden-away treasure on Albion street closer to the McDonald’s end than the Sydney road end. It’s a weather board house with no huge signage so it can be easy to miss (despite the throngs of people that head here.)
The cafe seats about 30-40 people inside and about the same outside. There are heaters and under cover seating round the side while there is smaller table seating in front as well as perhaps about 5 outside bar seats.
Ordering inside can get a little cramped as they’ve definitely used all their floor space to seat people.

After spending a few days in Melbourne one can get over the whole ‘cafe thing’. A
Minor Place manages to still impress despite stiff competition.
Located on a lazy strip the cafe looks like your friendly neighbourhood cornerstone. This is helped by the fact that the cafe sits in a renovated home with fire place and all.
This place is value for money, good food and portion size for a good price. Family friendly and i believe pet friendly as there are many tables and chairs outside.
Will definitely visit again.

Love this little local gem!
I just moved to Melbourne and my housemate brought me here for breakfast as it's close to where we live in Brunswick.
I have been a few times now, adopting it as my own favorite local.
The food here is unreal, fantastic coffee and always greeted by the loveliest staff.
The dukkah encrusted egg and chili mushroom dish is out of this world.
Raspberry chocolate French toast is to die for and the smashed avo and fried haloumi toast is superb...
You cannot go wrong with any choice on the menu.

Fantastic service. Had multiple people asking if we needed anything and the food came out quick. Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The pancakes and chorizo scramble were out of this world.

Yum Yum Yum!

Best scrambled eggs I've had - I find I'm always comparing breakfast out to this place and it rarely meets the standard they've set.

Absolute stand out place. The food was so fresh, really high quality ingredients showcased in their natural state with not too many flavours to overpower the simple goodness.

I had the A Minor Breakfast and it was amazing. My flatmate had the pumpkin and goats cheese breakie and her quite if the day was "this is the meal I'd order on death row".

The staff were super friendly, seated is straight away and our meal came out fast despite almost every seat in the place full. Thumbs up!

Stuck in a weird spot on Albion Street, A Minor Place never fails to disappoint with its delicious coffee and interesting menu. As a vegan I go to Henry's White Beans, which is probably the best vegan breakfast around, and their Bircher Muesli is tantalising. Do yourself a favour, and find this hidden gem and make it your local weekend spot.

Very much a blink and you'll miss it, kind of place, A minor place is definitely off the radar, almost with nothing else around it, in the middle of suburban Brunswick. Strangely enough it's located on quite an aggressive street for traffic, with busy bus lanes and many cars that seem to be trying to set speed records. Eating here is essentially eating in someone-else's house. It's a converted house, replete with a veranda, and other homely touches. It's a nice calm homely place to eat. The wagyu burger is great, and the chilli scrambled eggs look pretty darn appealing

A good reliable place for breakfast. After quite a few visits I think the Harissa scrambled eggs are my favourite. The coffee is good but there is better near by. Service always very good and friendly even when busy which they often are.

If the coffee was better it would be a 5 star cafe for me.

Had the most delicious berry pancakes here. I think we timed out arrival well & grabbed one of he last outdoor tables. And sitting on milk crates was surprisingly comfy, with cushions of course! Service was friendly, coffee was great & I'd like to return to try some other menu items. My partner had the Henry's white beans, I had a taste of these, yum! Then I demolished my pancakes.

I come here frequently for a late breakfast and it is consistently delicious.

Coffee is always great and the staff are super friendly. I love the New York bagel in particular.

The only issue I have is that the menu hasn't changed in the entire time I've been visiting so I rely on the specials for something new and tasty.

I love this place. The coffee in particular is amazing. They also have free wifi, which I'm using at this very moment to write this review. With such great ambiance and a solid playlist in the background it's a wonder people ever leave!

As for the food- man it's good. The homemade pancakes with caramelized bananas and maple mascarpone is decadent to the point of inducing diabetes, and the special I had on my last visit - scrambled Harissa eggs with chorizo and spinach on sourdough - was spicy and delicious.

For those who've been, this place would feel right at home in the

On a recent weekend jaunt to what we consider to be the top end of Melbourne i.e. the end of Lygon Street, we took the opportunity to visit a place that I have heard much about but due to the distance have never been in it neighbourhood. This may also be due to the fact that the location is actually smack bang in the middle of a quiet residential street in Brunswick. Such a quaint little place is a perfect fit for those on the way to work and want to pick up a coffee and breakfast at the start of their journey.

Despite looking quite small , they have utilised their space to great effect. Inside

I have a major crush on A Minor Place. A residential cottage turned milk-bar turned oft-slated-for-its-service little cafe that takes its name from a line in a Bonnie 'Prince' Billy song.

Located on the corner of one of the back streets of Brunswick, at a Minor Place you'll find patrons sitting on milk crates in a nod to its erstwhile status as a milk bar and a positively lengthy breakfast and lunch menu on offer taking in Melbourne classics such as smashed avocado on sourdough alongside more unusual fare.

A decidedly sleepy little cafe, A Minor Place's coffee is particularly

Brunswick is well known for its artsy, so-alternative-they're-almost-mainstream types and A Minor Place has more than a few of these crew on a typical day.

Not that that's a bad thing, far from it! With a chilled vibe and plenty of outdoor seating, most of which is on old milk crates, it's a great example of what Melbourne does so well - the independent coffee shop that has sprung from nowhere.

Always busy, even for a weekday afternoon, the coffee here is divine as were the poached eggs I had while the service is super-friendly.

It's a little bit off the beaten track between

What was once a milkbar in days of old Melbourne now stands as a Brunswick place to be. With hipsters a-plenty - all ironic sweaters and fixed gear bicycles - the best time to grab a bite is middle of a weekday, weekends get quite crazy. Takeaway coffees are glorious, and there is a fine selection of medium sided meals and smaller bagelesque pieces for the light eaters. I recommend the beans - simple enough to never get wrong and the avocado grapefruit smash is also a winner.
Inside with cool tunes or a lovely shaded area to see the street yet free from traffic, this is the perfect place to waste
