NAME: Until 1994 Thornbury was a part of the lovely City of Northcote and, in a nod to that shared history, Little Henri is named after Sir Stafford Henry Northcote himself - or 'Little Henri', as we liked to call him. He was the 3rd Governor-General of Australia (1903-1908) and was dedicated to, and influenced Melbourne's development and culture.
Located in a not-so-little building is the inviting Little Henri. An ode to Sir Henry Northcote, our space is built as a nod to the balance between old and new that Melbourne is so well known for.
Distressed finishes, industrial-styled walls, warm wooden accessories, large leafy courtyard and the original safe door that pays homage to Little Henri's former life as the local bank add to the warmth that all guests feel when they are welcomed inside.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a nice place but it wasn’t even busy at all and me and my fiancé sat there for over an hour waiting for our food, customers come to a restaurant already hungry you don’t leave them waiting that long to eat. On top of all that half our food came cold and I spent over $100 to feed 2 people like are you being serious running this place ? very dissatisfied as a first time customer not coming back.

Visiting family who live in Preston. My Birthday lunch. Didn’t book so we were thrilled to get a table for 5 adults & a toddler. The young female staff member who looked after us was wonderful. Nothing was a problem. Tables pushed together & cleaned to accommodate our group.
Food generous helpings and delicious.
Food & drinks came out quickly.
This cafe/restaurant has a strong owner presence I feel … but they know their business and the food and staff are top quality.
Thanks for a wonderful lunch !!

I was disappointed with the quality of our meals. I had heard good things about this cafe and it really is a cute place for brunch. The coffee was great and that was something I appreciated from a Melbourne cafe! Unfortunately the "Pork Benny" was very dry, tasted like it wasn't fresh and probably cooked the day before. The "Black Rice Porridge '' was along the same storyline, and tasted like they had been using cheaper produce. The two smoothies were overpowered by their milk or coconut bases which left us disappointed by the lack of freshness you would expect. I would assume these things are

Lovely food and great service. It was very busy on a Monday public holiday. 15% surcharge on public holidays.
Decor is really eclectic, and the old bank vault behind the bar is really wonderful. The overhead lights and padded bench seats along one wall, provide a very pleasant ambience. Floral arrangements and an assortment of furniture add an extra dimension to this eatery. Golden turmeric latte was very good. The haloumi and slow cooked tomato special was delicious. Ricotta pancakes looked great too. Thoroughly recommended.

We had an amazing meal at Little Henri today. The coffees were expertly made and there were a good number of choices. The chai latte was also really flavorful. We had 3 meals: Henri’s Vegie Breaky (with a side of hollandaise) was fantastic and filling and obviously used very fresh ingredients; Roasted Pork Belly was rich and plentiful and included a side of fennel salad deliciously flavored with oranges and capers; Coconut Pancakes were beautifully textured and covered in plump and yummy berries. The serving sizes were plentiful and we were definitely full by the end of our meal. Additionally

The food was of great quality for the price, however the Polo Burger had very little to be desired.
All the flavours were bland and just combined into a meh burger. Nothing was great about the burger while nothing that was terrible. The chips were fantastic though, especially with the aoli sauce.
I look forward to trying to wagyu burger next time because it looks like it’ll have much more flavour.
