Shin Sen Dojo
There are many forms of martial arts. While some are focused on strikes, kicks, punches or grappling, Aikido is unique. Aikido is centred around harmonising with your opponents' movement and redirecting their energy through timing, balance and positioning. You don't need to be the biggest, strongest or fastest to enjoy Aikido.

Aikido is an absolutely non competitive art. Perfect for beginners, this Japanese art incorporates fluid movements and techniques to control or project an attacker. Through absorbing the attacker's power and redirecting their energy, Aikido sees attack as a gift that can be confidently dealt with in a peaceful and calm way.
Services
A leading and innovative training centre teaching Aikido, Ki Cultivation, Macrobiotics and Shiatsu, established in 1980. Join the world renowned Sensei in his relaxed warm and friendly dojo to unify body, mind, spirit to freely express in daily life.

Shin Sen Dojo was founded in Sydney by Ken McLean Sensei in 1980 after deep research and training in various Aikido streams and Aiki arts such as Ki energy cultivation, Ki Shiatsu, Macrobiotics and Misogi. The Dojo is a place where people can train their full potential in an atmosphere of enjoyment and focus - to support the full expression of themselves as human beings not just on the mat but in their whole lives.
It is a peaceful and dynamic martial art that is suitable for everyone, based on redirecting the energy of an attack and returning harmony and balance. Aikido is designed to bring out your full potential for joyful, healthy and successful living. Ki can be defined as the energy that is behind and within all things.
This is a light slow class that includes stretches, breathing and Ki exercise leading to the partner blending exercises and the basic core movements of Aikido. Each class includes the Aiki Yoga stretching, warm up exercises, basic breathing, centering and Ki exercises. Then the blending movements are practiced, ukemi and then the core foundation technique and principles of Aikido.
This is a more flowing and dynamic class than the basic or beginners class. Although everyone can train in their own pace. Each class includes Aiki yoga, stretches, breathing and the centering exercises. Then gradually the class builds in its intensity to the more dynamic Aiki interactive movements and techniques.
Do you ever feel unsafe when walking alone at night? Do you have to carefully plan how you're going to get from one place to another after dark? Have you ever been put in a situation that's made you feel physically vulnerable? Do you wish you could improve your fitness, but are put off by the unwelcoming atmosphere of the gym?
