Contemporary Pilates in franchised studios and in the fitness industry with large group classes on an apparatus without the precision and the integrity, as well as Clinical Pilates taught by a physio that are both VERY different to Joseph Pilates' Original work.

Romana Kryzanowska, the world-renowned protege of Joseph Pilates, a first generation teacher had been teaching Joseph's method for over six decades. In doing so, Romana developed an Independent International Pilates Training Programme that teaches the system of exercises that Joseph passed on to her.
MPMS is Melbourne's only Romana's Pilates Studio affiliated with our Australasian Headquarters in Sydney, Cynthia Lochard's Pilates Method Studio. We support and guide you through the Independent Instructor Training Program (IITP) to become a certified Romana's Pilates Instructor. Bridging courses are available.
Our instructors are all trained in the True Pilates Method under our master trainers Romana Kryzanowska and Cynthia Lochard. Romana and Cynthia have trained our instructors to teach Pilates in the way it was originally developed by Joseph Pilates himself.

The significance and importance of the 'lineage' ensure the purity and high standard of the work is maintained for future practices and teachings, where the core principle 'Integration of the mind to strengthen the body and energize the spirit' is maintained.Each of our instructors has completed a minimum of 750 hours of studio and observation time, prior to becoming a certified Romana's instructor.
Bootybarre is a fun and energetic class that fuses Pilates, yoga and dance and the combination of strength, flexibility, sculpting the lower body, with added cardio intervals to raise the heart rate. This class creates longer and leaner muscles, burns fat and gets you fit and looking fantastic! To keep the focus, attention and precision with each participant we keep our classes smaller and work with our philosophy of quality over quantity.
Pilates is an exercise system invented by German fitness expert Joseph Pilates in the 1920's. It is a full body and mind conditioning workout that works on muscle strength, length and endurance. The repertoire of the exercises are adapted to your strength and intensify as your body conditioning strengthens.

Shattering my talus bone (ankle) 7 years ago falling one story off a ladder. I have been compensating and using my right leg to protect my left ankle. Have been from Oestos to foot podiatrist to many Pilate Studios to help loosen my hips and legs and fix years of pain and my piriformis. Melbourne Pilates Method Studio has given my body and my mind a depth of understanding just how important my core strength is to relieve pain. I take privates with Keft whenever I visit. The studio is clean, fully equipped, and our sessions fun and very insightful. Grateful I get to train with her virtually from Malaysia during this lockdown period too! If you want a Classical Pilates experience, you can't go wrong with MPMS.

I have been doing reformer and studio pilates at Melbourne Pilates Method Studio for around 2 years (and over 10 years in total) and absolutely love this studio. The owner, Keft, and all the instructors are highly qualified and very friendly and are able to get the most out of you by tailoring exercises to your skill level and specific areas of concern. They always ensure you are challenged whilst maintaining the core fundamentals of classical pilates. I would highly recommend this studio to all.
