Betty Spears Child Care Centre
Betty Spears Child Care Centre is a well respected, community based, not for profit, Long Day Care Centre operating in Tempe since 1986. Our centre provides high quality care and education to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years between the hours of 7.30am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday. We continue to strive for excellence in all we do for children, families and the community in which we serve.

Community based means that the centre belongs to the community and is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of parents from the local community whose children attend the centre. The day to day running of the centre is the responsibility of the Centre Director who reports to the Board.
Services
The late Betty Spears (1926-2012) acknowledged and advocated for the needs of the working families, especially women, at the State Transit Authority doing shift work day and night and requiring care for their children. She and June deLorenzo worked tirelessly and passionately to secure a grant from State and Federal governments during the 1980's that ensured the centre was set up and consequently the centre was named in her honour.
The centre's philosophy is reviewed annually and in consultation with families and staff to ensure that the centre is providing the best possible care for your child and a high quality service to the community. The philosophy is the foundation and central belief which describes what is important to the centre and defines the centre's purpose and focus.
As with all our routines at Betty's we seek to offer children a more individualised experience that feels more like a home environment for them rather than a centre. For this reason we have created a dining room for our toddler and preschool children where an educator will sit with a small group of children and share a meal and a chat.
The National Quality Standard (NQS) is a key aspect of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and sets a national benchmark for early childhood education and care, and outside school hours care services in Australia. Children's education and care services covered under the Education and Care Services National Law are assessed and rated against the NQS.
Step 2. To secure your place on our waiting list we require a waiting list fee of $30 per application. This fee helps to offset the administrative costs involved in maintaining a current waiting list for our not for profit, community based centre. To ensure your child's name is added to our waiting list please deposit $30 into the following centre account.

Positive: Professionalism
I went to this daycare from around 2008-10 and I enjoyed it a lot. It was well structured and the people were kind. We were given folders at the end of the year and to this day I love to look back at it. It talks all about everything we did and there are many pictures. I loved it and would recommend it.
