Services
Our new 2 bedroom contemporary apartments include a living area and two bedrooms, the main with a queen bed and the second bedroom containing twin single beds. The spacious living area is equipped with a studio kitchen, 220 litre fridge, cooking facilities (including all crockery and cutlery), iron and ironing board, microwave, dining table and comfortable lounge.
Please telephone the motel if the time of arrival is expected to be later than 8.30pm for check-in instructions. By car, the Akuna Motor Inn is located 1.5 km from Dubbo's CBD and 1.8 km's from Western Plains Zoo (just 2 minutes) on the Newell Highway going south towards Parkes. If travelling from Sydney, the Akuna can be found on the western side of the Macquarie River on the Newell Highway travelling towards Parkes.
The Taronga Western Plains Zoo is Dubbo's star attraction. Covering 300 hectares, the zoo has a huge selection of animals, ranging from the majestic Asian and African Elephants to the big cats including Lions, Tigers, Cheetahs and Leopards, to the wonderfully playful Otters and cheeky Meerkats and a huge variety in between.

BEWARE OF BED BUGS!!
TERRIBLE HYGIENE AND MANAGEMENT.
We stayed in here for 4 days over Xmas. Initially room looked lovely and clean however we started getting bitten from day 1 (staying in Room 8). Thought it was mozzies (despite insect repellant) until we found live bed bugs filled with blood on the wooden bed heads on 2 out of the 3 beds in the room!
Showed the bugs to reception and was told management had recently changed. We were moved to a new room on request but we just saw another guest being given our old infested room straight away, no pest control done!
Asked for a refund but have

The room was beautiful, huge and so clean and comfortable. The service was great and I loved everything about this place. Even the linen and towels, shower which had amazing water pressure. The mini bar was awesome, the outdoor sitting area which was surrounded by beautiful plants against two walls, shade over that and the pool, beautiful and stylish outdoor furniture just neart the pool, the ambient lighting is wonderful there. Great location. MacDonald's is right next to it, The only thing that was disappointing was that there is only breakfast room service on weekends. Which is a shame, because

Stayed for a couple nights, friendly owners, very clean and ideally located -only a short distance from main attractions. Room was very clean and well laid out with a generous sized tv screen, microwave and a large rubbish bin. I was impressed with the lay out of the room, high brick walls for soundproofing, aircon sweeping, large shower and long vanity.
The owners are a great couple, always able to offer some excellent tourist recommendations and nice to have a chat with. If we are ever in Dubbo again, we know exactly where to go to stay.

The moment we walked into our room we were impressed with the room layout, cleanliness, and all the temptings on offer in the fridge. We would have loved to spend more time in the room it was so good. But we had a big day ahead of us to get home so we couldn't enjoy a lay in. Definitely next time its our number one stay in Dubbo thanks Matt and family.

This was an awesome place to stay. The owners had some fantastic suggestions for food and hikes nearby and they were super friendly.
Rooms were clean and cool, with comfortable beds and big bathrooms.
Close to town, waking distance to cafes, and decent prices too. We will definitely stay here when we're in Dubbo again!

Staff were friendly and very helpful! Had a lot of local knowledge. Rooms were very nicely kept, very clean, I really enjoyed the animal artwork on the walls. We got a room with a mini fridge and microwave, room was really spacey and big bathroom! I also got a chance to use the pool, while it is small it is in a nice tucked away location. Hotel is next door to maccas, and a very quick drive into town.

We spent a couple of nights at Akuna whilst on a family road trip. The rooms were a decent size, pretty well equipped and beds were comfortable.
It’s located pretty close to everything, especially the zoo and makes a great base whilst in town. Staff were super friendly and welcoming as well.
Only criticism was that the rooms were a touch noisy, more obvious on the first night than the second with trucks on the highway pretty close and you could hear people outside the room.
