The Red Lion Hotel is steeped in history. Built in the 1850s at the beginning of the gold-rush, the hotel was host to many a miner who had 'struck it rich' on the goldfields, with beer being paid for in gold rather than coin! Alongside the prize fights that frequented the venue, quoits competitions were held out the back, with the main competitors being miners.
The Charlie Napier hotel (a replica of which can be found at Sovereign Hill) sat almost directly opposite - with comedians, bands and singers performing there, and people milling over to the Red Lion for a drink after the events.

It has easy access to the bar and other public areas and affords privacy and seclusion in elegant traditional surrounds. The Boardroom is a private space which can be reserved for business meetings, sports groups or private dinners.

We stayed at the lovely hotel connecting for work and wow just wow 2 nights of incredible food and such welcoming service . A big shout out to Kelly our gorgeous waitress who was so professional and answered any questions we had . Thankyou to Shaun the chef for adding to our kilos hahaha what an awesome ambience and lovely bunch of people. 10☆ from hubby and myself and can't wait to be back again 😊😋

Great food and lovely service. They allowed my pup to join us in the undercover deck area and even welcomed her with her own bowl of water. The food was delicious! We all travelled from the South East and am contemplating the drive again just for the food 🤣 yum! Thanks for a wonderful lunch experience
