Sydney Speech Clinic is a professional, positive and supportive speech pathology and occupational therapy service located in Lane Cove on the lower north shore. We assist children and adults of all ages with speech, language, literacy, learning, social, feeding, attention, self-regulation, fine and gross motor and self-care skills.
With over 20 years of clinical experience as a Speech Pathologist, Catherine has worked both in the UK and Australia with a wide range of client groups experiencing speech, language, communication and swallowing difficulties. She has worked across a number of settings including day care centres, preschools, schools, hospitals, specialist rehabilitation centres and community clinics.

Services
At Sydney Speech Clinic we offer a growing range of therapy services to assist children and their families. Typically children attend the clinic for one to one individualised assessment, diagnosis and therapy with their treating therapist. Parent involvement and home practice is strongly recommended in most cases for best results.
Sydney Speech Clinic has been providing online therapy services for several years to children and families who live long distances from Sydney. While we love seeing our families at the clinic, in their home, or at their school/daycare, the use of online therapy allows us to extend our services to reach families who may otherwise be unable to access therapy to get the support they need.
In most cases assessment and therapy sessions take place in the clinic room with the therapist, child and parent (or caregiver) all present. Both parents are welcome and encouraged to attend so that everyone can understand the therapy process. Siblings are welcome too and can play in the waiting area if required.
Every child's communication profile and therapy needs are different and, therefore, it is essential to tailor the therapy program to your child's individual needs. At Sydney Speech Clinic we believe that there is no 'one size fits all' commercial therapy program. We use our skills and experience to determine which elements of which methods will suit the child best at a particular point in their development and learning.
Sydney Speech Clinic is periodically able to carry out preschool/primary school screenings. This can be organised at the request of the preschool director or school principal. Speech and language screening is a useful way to assess whether a child needs any help with their speech, language or literacy development.

My son attended the Teen Social Squad program last week at SSC where he was helped to build his confidence in communication with peers, in a safe and supportive environment. The Squad was led by fabulous therapists Mariam and Kelsea, who guided the group through problem solving activities that assisted in enhancing life and social skills. I am very grateful that SSC run these valuable group programs, which my son has enjoyed attending over the last few years and will continue to attend in future.

We would like to thank Mariam and the team at Sydney Speech Clinic for starting our son's speech journey. He is currently 2.5 years old and has been with Mariam for about 8 months since being diagnosed with ASD. Mariam was always patient, kind and friendly towards Matteo to give him the confidence to start communicating his needs to those around him. The team are amazing! My son has seen two of the speech pathologists (Pip & Tabitha) and both are equally great. His school results have improved and he is now confident. Wish we had saved our money on tutors and visited the clinic sooner.

Our 6 year old son has just completed and finished a year of weekly Speech therapy lessons with Mariam at Sydney Speech Clinic. Mariam is a credit to the team and I have no hesitation in recommending her. Mariam took the time to get to know our son who was extremely shy when he first started his sessions. My Son Jesse has really loved his time at Sydney Speech Clinic working with Sarah. His confidence and reading ability has improved so much over the past year, which was no easy feat for a child who does not like to read. Sarah's patience and caring nature made my son look forward to his lessons and be willing to learn during that time. I highly recommend Sydney Speech Clinic. My son LOVES attending his therapy sessions and has improved immensely. Such a great experience. The therapist immediately put our child at ease and gets the best out of him every session. His language has improved so much since we started and we are so pleased with his progress each week. My child loves going and does not want to leave at the end of the session. We are so happy with the high quality therapy and support our son receives from Alexis at Sydney Speech Clinic. He has made continuous improvement across the time we have been seeing her. Alexis has built a great rapport with us and our son responds really well in turn. She is helpful with any questions we have between sessions, and also visits him in the daycare setting. Speech sessions are play-based fun which our son enjoys, and Alexis presents a variety of games and activities which keeps him engaged. Their rooms are conveniently located in the Lane Cove village. Highly recommend.
