Fire safety should never be taken for granted. In NSW, the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulations (2000) require ALL building owners, except for houses and non-habitable buildings, to submit an Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) to the local council and fire brigade. A scam. We had a $99 annual subscription with them. "All you'll pay is $99! Our all inclusive fee is fixed so you can rest assured there are no hidden extra charges and absolutely no more to pay. Our annual fee includes all replacement alarms (even hard-wired!).”
They tried to charge us an extra $99 per hour to "investigate further". They then wanted to charge $580 to change two hard-wired alarms, or $240 for two battery ones.
