Wisdom teeth often start to cause trouble during eruption in the young adult years. Wisdom teeth pain may be due to the slow process of the teeth coming through the gum. If the gum starts to swell up or prevent sleep, then please seek prompt dental or medical attention. Wisdom teeth may not need to be removed in young adults - these decisions are made on a case by case basis.

The movie Root Cause includes some good descriptions of the limitations and pitfalls with root canal treatment. It does also however include many claims that are not based on scientific fact or evidence, and we would question these opinions of the movie. With root canal treatment of a tooth, there are lots of tiny tubules and mini canals that may not be entirely cleaned out, but they are sealed up.
Dr Matthew Clougher was born and raised in Hobart. He graduated from the University of Sydney in 2006 and moved back to Hobart to start practising in 2007. Having worked in both the public and private dental sectors. Matthew has gained great experience in general dentistry over a broad cross section of the community.

Very happy to have located a holistic dentist. Dirk is friendly, considerate and thorough. He explains what is happening with your teeth and recommends without pressure any treatments necessary. Staff are friendly and helpful.
2 years later - Sadly Dirk has left, happily Matthew is fantastic. Went in with a toothache, left without one! Needed a root canal filling. Thought it would be another week or two for another appointment to start the whole procedure, but no, got onto it straight away. Done efficiently and pain free.

Amazing team with amazing support and so calming to be around. It starts from the moment you step in the door. I was in excruciating pain and petrified having not been to a Dentist in far to long. The team were genuinely supportive, patient and skilled. I feel confident to go back again and address some other issues once I heal from 2x extractions today. Thankyou.

I am very impressed with Dental Pod. Dr Dirk Jacobsen is a very caring person who takes the time to explain every thing that is happening with the dental procedure he is doing for you. I used to dread the Dentist but that's a thing of the past. Dental Pod offers me a natural, informative and affordable pathway for my ongoing Dental care. Dr Dirk has always explained clearly where my teeth are at and the procedure that is required on the day with my permission. Planning for the future is important and Dr Dirk has flagged some future work which I can prepare for with my health fund. The Dental assistants are an attentive fun team and I always find I am relaxed at the end of my appointment. I have referred my friends here because of my excellent experience and they're regulars now

Dirk is so calm and gentle. I’ve had several procedures from standard cleans, night guard fitting, fillings and amalgam removal at The Dental Pod and he always clearly explains everything he is about to do. I can not sing the praises of Dirk and his team highly enough. We are lucky to have you here in Tasmania! Your customer service is second to none. I never felt rushed, I have been to dentists that remind you more of butchers who forget you are a person underneath. Dirk was caring and very informative. He explained every detail to me and he is the… only holistic dentist in Tasmania specialising in amalgam removal. I went to see Dr Matthew Clougher Today in Glenorchy for a extremely bad pain in the side of my mouth, I don't go to the dentists much as I have a bad experience with a dentist in my area. after seeing Mr Clougher today I will never go to any other dentist, he was SUCH a wonderful person, I suffer from panic attacks and informed him and he's assistant they could not of been kinder to me, I had a tooth pulled and they were such lovely people. Also I thought it was very well priced, Thank you
