We provide professional knowledge and support to assist with all areas of communication and social development including: speech, language, literacy, fluency, play skills and social thinking.We offer a wide range of group therapy from skills based learning to eating and social skills. Children's Speech and OT is a sister clinic to Improving Speech and Language. Prior to operating at Children's Health Centre, Improving speech and language operated for over 8 years in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
The Pragmatic Profile of Every Day Communication (parent Interview) (pre-school and school aged children). Literacy therapy - Phonological therapy for early literacy, reading, spelling, comprehension. The development of speech sounds is crucial to each child's ability to be understood by others. The development of speech sounds moves through ages and stages.
Our team of Occupational Therapists (OT's) specialise in children with physical and social/emotional difficulties. OT's look at the occupations or activities that children perform including:. Social and emotional development assists children with pretend play, turn taking, cooperative play with other children, and their participation in group leisure/sport activities.
Feeding therapy for individuals or in a small group, depending upon the needs of the child/family. Hanen parent training runs as either a group or an individual session, depending upon needs. This is a world renowned, evidence based program. It supports parents with the skills do provide the 20-25 hours of early intervention therapy each week recommended for best results.
Families of children receiving out of office therapy receive emails after each therapy session to keep the family informed and provide homework support. Phone conversations and, at minimum, quarterly meetings between therapist and parents are strongly encouraged so that communication between therapist, families and teachers are maintained ensuring children's needs are being met.
