It is also likely that before surgery, there was a pre-existing muscle imbalance such as loss of mobility or weakness in surrounding muscles. So it will be beneficial to address this as much as possible prior to the procedure. Due to the nature of most surgical procedures, strength and mobility of surrounding soft tissue is lost.
Improves core stability to help manage and prevent low back and neck pain, enhances postural control, body awareness and flexibility, helps to reduce the risk of pain or re-injury and strengthens and tones the muscles. Physiotherapists study muscle and joint anatomy and physiology, therefore they have the expertise required to effectively prescribe Pilates for people with and without pain or injury.
At Activate Physiotherapy we know sports and more importantly we know how to treat sports injuries. Whether you are an elite footy player or a casual sports person we have all the experience in the world needed to accurately assess, diagnose and fix your injury. However we believe that treating your injury is not enough.
Dry needling helps to reduce pain and tension thereby helping the muscles and other tissues to heal. Dry needling is a broad term used to differentiate "non-injection" needling from the practice of "injection needling" which utilises a hyperdermic syringe and usually involves the injection of an agent such as saline, local anaesthetic or corticosteroid into the tissue or specific anatomical structures.

I went to see Ben after seeing several Physios that did not suit me. He is by far the best physio I have been to and ticks all the boxes. He appears to hold a wealth of knowledge and I appreciate that he spends the time to explain his work to me in layman's terms. I'd highly recommend him to anyone wanting to see a physio.

I recently had a fantastic experience at activate Physiotherapy. I had a very painful swollen elbow that I was quite worried about. I was greeted by lovely receptionists, completed paperwork and was taken through in a timely manner. My Physiotherapist Sarah was very reassuring, efficient and accurate with diagnosis. I was given a clear diagnosis and plan moving forward which put my mind at ease. I have since completely recovered and am happy to recommend Activate physiotherapy.

Made it really clear when I booked I was after a massage and dry needling, I didn't want exercises, taping, or a plan.
Booked a 40 minute session, got brought in 10 mins late was dressed and out 5 mins early, I reckon I got 15 minutes of massage and two needles.

After two years of incapacitating pain in my neck and resulting occipital neuralgia and after seeing several doctors and specialists and receiving all types of treatments, none of which helped, I learnt about Activate Physio.
My first physio treatment with Ben Heath gave me enough relief from the pain to give me assurance that I could get my life back. With his continued help I am now able to function normally and almost pain free. I am well on the journey to recovery. Ben's depth of knowledge and experience is amazing and I have great confidence in the work he and the Activate team are doing

Ben did a great job of looking after not one but two of our boys after they injured themselves at @UWA Little Athletics on Saturday. They were most impressed by the neat trick (no doubt only for specially trained clinicians :- ) that got an injured foot back working properly again.
