Women Assist Counselling
Women Assist is a professional counselling & psychotherapy service based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. We are focused on women's mental health & wellbeing. Our practise is trauma-informed, client-centred, respectful, and empowering! Our professional counsellors are women who are both culturally aware and sensitive.

They are experts in providing assistance with identifying issues as well as exploring options and developing strategies for healing & increasing self-awareness. No matter what culture you are from, or how old you are, whether you are queer or straight or where you fit on the female identity spectrum, many people try to move forward and pretend to be okay when they are actually not!
Services
Counselling provides an opportunity to meet with a non-judgmental and professionally trained counsellor. You will be able to discuss a range of life issues that may affect your ability to get through your day to day life. The counsellor will work with you to explore more effective ways of managing the difficulties you may be experiencing.
Psychotherapy focuses on working with clients for a longer-term and draws from insight into emotional problems and difficulties. Psychotherapy sometimes involves intense emotional discussions, you may find yourself crying, upset or even having an angry outburst during a session. Some people may feel physically exhausted after a session.
Online Counselling or Psychotherapy is available via Zoom video conferencing. It's easy and just as therapeutic as coming into the consulting room, except you don't need to travel and can stay in the comfort of your own home. It's safe secure and convenient.

Online video sessions are useful for those who would usually have difficulty travelling to appointments either because of distance/remoteness, mobility problems, people with childcare commitments or simply those with a busy work and travel schedule.Research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face therapy.
PLEASE NOTE: Women Assist Counselling is NOT a crisis helpline, however, every effort is made to connect individuals to the appropriate crisis helpline. Telephone counselling works by providing a genuine and real understanding in a non-judgemental way. Being empathetic and really listening to the client.
Most couples have ups and downs in their relationship. However when the bad times outweigh the good times it can feel unbearable, which leads to stress, frustration, sadness and resentment. Many people in an unhappy relationship spend a lot of time telling their partners what is wrong with them or their behaviour and how they'd like them to change.
