After many years away from the studio, Elanc's founding principal, Dianne Harrison, rekindled her love for ballet at the age of 30, describing it as "like falling in love all over again." It was this moment that marked the beginning of Dianne curating an incredible experience for adults in ballet. Comprising two beautifully-appointed studios in Melbourne's Mitcham and Flemington, Elanc has been renowned for excellence in adult ballet since 2002.
Dianne began her ballet training at the age of five with Gay Wightman School of Ballet and studied the Borovansky method to Advanced level. She later trained at the National Ballet Theatre under the guidance of Gailene Stock and Gary Norman. After returning to ballet in later years, Dianne recognised the need for adult opportunities in ballet and established Elanc Adult Ballet School Pty Ltd in 2002.
Call us on 1300 739 483, or email via our contact form. We will chat with you about your prior training, if any. That information, combined with the time since you've attended regular classes, will help us to suggest a suitable level. We always recommend that students returning to ballet classes start with a very moderate level.
Have you dreamed about learning ballet but thought you'd "missed the boat"? You haven't! If you have the desire, EL1 is the perfect class to bring ballet into your life in a safe, steady and supported way. Beginner Level classes which assume basic to moderate understanding of terminology and steps.

Elance is more than a ballet school, it is a community. The studio is a beautiful space in which to step out of your comfort zone and push your technique, coordination, musicality and grace with supportive teachers, and plenty of humour. Whether you are a returnee to ballet, completely new, or somewhere in between, there is an Elance class to suit wherever you're at on your ballet journey.

There is so much I love about Elancé School. Beyond the amazingly capable and lovely teachers, it's a place to feel respected, encouraged. You will be pushed to do your best while you're having an incredible time of joy and fun dancing and learning ballet

I have attended adult ballet classes all along the east coast but I have never experienced anything like Elance. The care with which your progress is monitored, the abundant wisdom of the teachers and the community of caring and inclusion that exists here is truly unbelievable and compells you to return each week.
I was looking for somewhere that would challenge me (as I am a studio ballet teacher myself) and I always leave sweaty, satisfied and smarter than when I walked in. But regardless of your level, I promise you that if you want ballet in your life as an adult, this is the place you're

I am so excited to provide a review for this ballet school. I am 42, overweight and clumsy and I’m having the best time of my life. I adore the commitment to ballet for All and the stringent following of ballet etiquette - it’s fantastic. Belle teaches my class and she’s so lovely - I have a whopping big women’s crush on her! And Dianne is a gorgeous human!

Absolutely amazing dance school for adults who have always wanted to try ballet. The teachers are wonderful and take the time to patiently explain every step. The classes are for absolute beginners of all sizes and shapes. You work with what your body can do in a very comfortable environment. It is also a wonderful 90 minutes of mindfulness as between what your arms, legs, feet and head are doing in time with the music there is no room in your brain for any other thoughts.

Elance is that rare ballet school that focuses on adult students of all experience levels.

They have classes for absolute beginners right up to those with 7+ years of experience, and even offer specialty 'Barre Plus' classes suitable for older dancers or those who are pregnant or returning after birth, or with other physical limitation. These classes are basically the same, but without the allegro (jumping) components.

I do beginner classes here as I never took ballet as a child, but wanted a more interesting way to build up my strength than just doing weights at the gym. The instruction
