Dating back to 1886, the heritage listed hotel is the Illawarra's oldest licensed premises. Deeply significant to the local area, the old mining town of South Clifton was re-named 'Scarborough' after the establishment in 1903. Throughout the early 1900's it remained at the centre of community life, housing some of the area's most meaningful events.

This has been a terrible experience that has left me out of pocket and in tears a day before my birthday.
I arrived on the evening, and knocked on the door (no answer) so called the number. Man answers sorry your reservation has been cancelled. I can offer you an alternative for the same price. I check booking.com (not cancelled) so man on phone is oh yeah I told them its already happened 3 times before please go to the Premier Hotel they are awaiting your arrival. Go to hotel looks grim but ok might not be so bad. Go to room and there is a bad smell, sweets on the floor and

Didn’t even get to stay there, was meant to be going down on the 18th of October (tomorrow) as a 3 day, 2 night getaway with my missus, only to find out today (17th of October) that they had cancelled our booking through booking.com, no email providing information as to why it’s being canceled just that it has by the property. (That’s what the Booking.com app has said) Massive let down, would definitely not recommend if you hate being let down.

For the price, I wasn't expecting the Ritz, but this was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in!
The rooms were in dire need of some tlc. The bedding was clean, but everything else needed a deep clean.
The shower was filthy. We had no hot water at all on our second day, and the guy on reception didn't seem to care. It was only in the evening that it was sorted.
The curtain rail fell down when my partner opened the door, the toilet didn't flush properly. Hot water tap was cold, and cold tap was hot! Cups were dirty. It was just not a practical room to stay in for 3 days!

I stayed here in August, and to no fault of their own there was a power cut and we had to leave. We were told that we would receive the refund straight away and four weeks later we still have nothing. We have tried to call multiple times and keep getting ignored. We even left our details with the hotel and was told the manager would get back to us. But yet again nothing! Poor customer service!
I want my money back for a trip that was rubbish and cut short due to not being able to stay.

Parking is poor, not anything the hotel can do about that as it all depends when you arrive. We managed to get parking after we’d been out, so not so bad. The room was clean, good size, came with kettle and coffee / tea (things like that) bed was really comfy, staff were extreme friendly (can’t fault them at all). Only problem was the shower was cold, it never turned hot (me and my boyfriend had it on for over 30 minutes to try and warm it up) eventually we just jumped in while it was cold (funny experience to be honest) and then we washed our hair in the sink (the sink had hot water) so not

Absolutely terrible room.no wardrobe, no shower , a bath with intermittent hot water ,by the time you've ran a bath its ran cold ,could not dry your hair as no, mirror ! who has a bath theses days? Window wouldn't shut,didnt eat breakfast as the lingering smell of fat cooking lingered through the hotel.,a real downer on my trip.Shame as could be a lovely place to stay.

Upon my arrival first thing to greet me where rubbish bins full of rubbish they had quite clearly been there for some time I'm I didn't think it was appropriate to have them at the front of the building where the public will see them. Wants in my room I have been there for about 2-hours and a man knocked on the door didn't tell me who he was and asked to come into my room as the boiler had broken and it was located in the cupboard in my room a very strange place to have a boiler in a hotel I thought I let him in but as a woman travelling on my own I found that really intimidating. Lovely hotel, the room was well decorated and clean. Found slugs in the bathroom on 2 nights. Had a breakfast on one of the mornings which was very tasty. The only fault was the staff, we had a ground floor room and were rudely woken at 6.45 every morning by the kitchen staff banging around and singing loudly, but only 1 line of a song and it was repeated a few times. I'd stay again but only if I was further from the kitchen
Car park was full constantly and it was often hard to park on the street sadly. It was a short walk to the pier and fair and handy for the beach so the location is fantastic

We had booked a double room (ended up on ground floor) to soon realise that we had no hot water the whole 3 days stay. We had told reception repeatedly and nothing was done, the stay was horrendous mainly because of this. To top this stay of even more, our kettle did not work and neither did the fan provided for, the room was unbearable to sleep in. The bathroom trims on the floor were not in place and was a hazard when walking in and out of the bathroom.
Definitely would not stay at this hotel again, it is deceiving when booking, I would not recommend this place at all.
