Efendy
Spending the first 25 years of his life in Turkey, where his mother was a successful restaurant consultant, chef Sivrioglu grew up around the vibrancy of urban Turkish cuisine. It is these early culinary experiences, combined with his many years in the restaurant and hospitality industry, that gave chef Sivrioglu the inspiration behind Efendy Restaurant, and his journey continues with the new venture Anason in Barangaroo.

Efendy's kitchen team is entirely Turkish, with each member representing a different culinary region. The Efendy experience is completed with genuine Turkish hospitality including the charm, attention to detail and warmth typical of the Turkish culture.
Services
Every Saturday and Sunday for lunch we offer a set menu of small mezes and wood roasted Tandir Lamb. Our menu is designed to share. For the first timers, our Efendy Feast is a great way to start your journey to Anatolia. Alternatively, we suggest you start with a number of mezes and fresh bread out of the oven and finish off with one of wood roasted dishes.
All bookings will be secured with a credit card. This card will only be charged in the event of no show, late cancellation, or reduction in guest numbers within 24 hours of the booking. This reservation is guaranteed to the value of $50 per person. All card payments incur a surcharge. Please note that for the time being we are taking a maximum of 2 equal payments per bill in order to minimise contact at the table.

Apart from the delicious food, the service was really quick and well-organised. Also, the staff was very nice to us. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

We absolutely loved it. And we will have enough for lunch tomorrow to really stretch out our delicious dining experience! Thank you for making Father’s Day special (especially during lockdown).. an evening our family needed 💕

Before hip suburban cafes started arranging fried eggs and bacon onto heaving breakfast platters, Turkish people laid out rich, diverse spreads for their morning meal, using ingredients better suited to a long, slow meal. In Turkey, breakfast is called kahvaltı, which means “before coffee”, though at Efendy they let me smash mine with a Turkish Coffee Martini ($18). It’s traditionally enjoyed with tea, and they offer up three different types, all at five bucks a glass.
Efendy takes breakfast regional with their Van Breakfast Feast ($35/person), named for the city of Van on

We love Turkish food. It is a usual for us since we visited Turkey. We usually go to near by Turkish kabab shops but wanted to experience the real deal and decided to try Efendy for a Sunday lunch. We were excited that they do a 48 per person set menu as this will allow us to get a feel of how good they are. After all the reviews of this place are great and it Is run by a master chef judge. Boy were we disappointed. I think the food is no better than what you find in any local street corner kabab shop. The Adana kabab was the toughest I have had. The mangal special is 2 chicken wings spiced with

Honestly my toddler could have made bEtter food at home. The food was bland and unoriginal and there were no options other than the set board of dips.

Went for anniversary dinner and I was blown away by food and service. Staffs were quite pleasing and patient enough to explain the food and drink menu. They have a good variety of Turkish wines and non-alcoholic drinks as well. Situated in a street corner, parking is on the street and can be difficult to find during busy times since it is close to residential area.Food quantity is not too much and enough for one person. Being our anniversary dinner, I had requested to organise some surprise for my wife. After our dinner was over, we both were served with their dessert -Turkish Mess- with sparkles

If you are looking for a great breakfast full of tastes and flavours, it is the best place in all over Sydney area you can find. Prices are so reasonable, customer service is great indeed. Comfortable Outdoor seating area. My suggestions to try with no doubt are:
- Apple tea
- Turkish Coffee
- The big tray of jams and cheese

The claimed that they are the best Turkish restaurant in Sydney and I have heard a lot about them.
We went there for breakfast and nothing was special about this place. Generally, i can list my experience as below:
Very nice and relaxing atmosphere.
The place is located in a price suburb.
Interior is very nice.
staff was ok but could have been a little bit friendlier especially the male waiters. The lady was good.
Portion size was a big issue compared to their price tag,it was much smaller than my previous Turkish restaurant. We payed 35 dollar each for food that was worth $23-27 maximum

Get food pampered with what Efendy has to offer. Really good concept for breakfast that will keep your conversations going with endless food and beverage and friendly service. The variety was amazing and exceeded our expectations especially during busy breakfast times. Perfect for families and a group of friends alike.

What a beautiful Turkish restaurant! Who would've thought this would be hidden away in Balmain. Absolutely love the setting and decor, you feel like you could be in Turkey. The food is amazing and the staff are very attentive and friendly. Had a really great evening!

Nice venue, beautifully decorated and large space inside. We didn't have a booking and had to wait 45 minutes for a table which was fine as we went for a walk. It was so busy they weren't answering the phone whe we called to make a booking. Tasty food, but qite pricey for the serving size. Service was average, not overly friendly or unpleasant either- just did their job. Breakfast menu looked interesting and may come back for that.

This is not a Turkish experience. They must've been having a bad day. We got a terrible experience. To pay $170 for breakfast for 4 and looking at my child the whole time like if she was going to break something was utterly rude. There's a lot more better options in Newtown area. I rarely write a review, however, this was worth noting.

Came here for breakfast over the weekend with my family. The set menu is versatile and really great value for $30. The menu is all inclusive and serves more than enough varieties of dips, breads, fruits and cheeses. Finishing with some eggs and sujuk. The staff were attentive and friendly and the restaurant was gorgeous. The setting is great for a long brunch session either with family and friends. I loved the variety of cheeses they had and our family liked mixing and matching with the dips. Certainly would recommend the breakfast but bring an open mind to try it all and a big appetite. I recommend

Yum. Went here for breakfast. $30 each for shared food platter including eggs, chorizo, pasties, cheese, fruit and dips. Tea and coffee included. I didn't try the coffee but the Turkish tea was great. A different experience for breakfast. Attentive service. Will definitely return

On the breakfast / brunch menu is a magnificent breakfast spread fit for royalty! Admittedly, most of the spread is dips and bread, but still, there is a huge selection and it looks super impressive when it comes out.

The selection of dips are varied and unusual, as are the Turkish breads. The vegetables are standard cucumbers and tomatoes. There is a huge serving of 3 types of cheeses, including stringers! (I'm sure they're not the Stringers that were popular in the late 90s / early 2000s).

The decor is cute and Turkish. Love the expansive courtyard. This is the place to take a group

Nice set up, but way, way overrated food. We had the preset menu for breakfast, heralded as one of the best breakfasts in Sydney. Yeah, nah. Essentially served us eggs and breads and dip, honestly tasting like they came out of a can. Setting up fruit and dips on a nice platter doesn't make it taste nice. If you want real Turkish food, head to Auburn.

We had our family Christmas lunch here and the food was amazing.

We had outdoor seating and the restaurant was very accommodating, swapping our benches for chairs and providing our Nan with a cushion for her to sit.

The whole lunch consisted of 7 share dishes (a cold mezes, 2 seafood mezes, a hot mezes, 2 large plate dishes and a dessert). The whole affair took about 4 hours with a significant wait for the 2 large plate dishes, which were a Clay jug baked lamb shoulder Tandir and a rocket, brown fig, string haloumi salad. We didn't expect the lunch to take that long, but because the first

I have never enjoyed Turkish food so much. Efendy manages to serve up a variety of unique, delicious plates without going over the top with garlic. I loved the pomegranate humus, prawns and, baked eggplant and burghul salad- all were beautifully prepared and tasted amazing. The waiters were friendly, attentive and loved sharing their Turkish heritage with us.
The prices add up, but is well worth it for genuine Turkish gustatory experience!

Great food, great service, what more could you ask for? This restaurant showed great potential and a high level of Turkish cuisine. One of the best Turkish restaurants I have ever been to. I highly recommend this restaurant to someone looking for a good not to expensive Turkish dinner. The people working here put a smile on your face. They were very nice and caring. This is a great restaurant. 5 stars!

Efendy has become one of my favourite local restaurants. The menus changes slightly with the seasons but the food and service are consistently impressive.

The lahmacun is an irresistible staple (even if it has gotten smaller over the years). I highly recommend this place for a slow-paced, relaxing dinner under the stars.

Had a 1 month wedding anniversary here. Incredibly impressed did the $95 set menu with Turkish wine and it was great. The service was excellent, the food was great, the wine was pretty good and everything was in incredibly fast.

Make sure you check out the mini pide with pomegranate molasses and olive oil.

Nice sitting outdoor when it's a warm day. I like they have lot of small plate to pick and share. The main dish is big enough to share with 4 people. We bought our own bottle wine but Sat is only day of the week that we can't bring wine in... Too bad. But they have good wine list to choose. The slow roast lamb was impressed!! The dessert just a so-so to me. Too much rose water in it, it's smell like soap or hand cream.

Great restaurant went there for a 31st birthday, started with dips which consisted of pomegranate, capsicum humus, smoked babaganus and king prawns, shredded pastry, walnut with mini pide breads.

For mains we to share, deep fried mussels, zucchini, feta and walnut gozleme, hot chicken wings and sautéed scotch fillet

Between 6 ppl it was quite filling! The bread is soft and so good! We kept asking for more

If you sit outside at Efendy and the wind changes ... it can be a smoky affair. It's great that Efendy BBQ their chargrilled meat and veggies in front of everyone. What a show. But the folks sitting outside were, admittedly, right in line to get a face full of smoke with their expensive lunches.

Efendy is probably a little overpriced, but you're not just paying for the food -- the old house itself is quite a venue, inside and out. We had lunch here inside, and it was nice and quiet (we didn't have to shout and the oldies could hear ok). Our waitress was an odd but friendly woman

I was here with a group of six yesterday - Efendy is in a classic old Victorian house that has had an immaculate renovation. We sat outside in the courtyard under a large table with an umbrella and the smells from the charcoal grill were all around us. Barbecue and exotic spices. Beautiful.

I had the char-grilled whole snapper. It was probably the best fish I've had in recent memory. Everyone else had the lamb and the chicken dishes and everyone loved their meals.

Afterwards we had coffees. I had the Turkish coffee which I grew up drinking with my Serbian grandma (supposedly reading my
