As a child, I would watch my grandmother and mum lovingly prepare traditional dishes from Calabria and Sicily. Occasionally I would try my hand at stealing a freshly baked biscuit, only to be caught by their eagle eyes. A light slap on the hand and an afternoon exile from the kitchen was punishment.
I got to keep the biscuit, though! It wasn't just the women in the family who prepared food; my uncle and grandfather were skilled Italian pastry chefs. So it was natural to absorb a culture in which good food was paramount. At the time the food trend was modern Australian cuisine which was a blend of different cuisines.

Ordered through door dash, honestly I really didn't like it. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar and it makes the pizza wet which should never happen. It's not evenly cooked and the toppings are slapped onto about a quarter of each slice leaving most of it just sauce and cheese. Not a pleasant pizza eating experience. Disappointed.

The old saying goes 'looks can be deceiving'. I can assure you, not on this occasion. The pizza was as bland as it looks and considering the $20 price tag on the Rocket pizza, id be amazed if anyone is left satisfied with it. Feta cheese is meant to be included, which it was, though I dare say you'd need a magnifying glass to spot it. The fact the restaurant was empty made sense in hindsight, this Italian restaurant needs serious love and attention.

So terrible.... the wedges came first and they were ok... not that crispy but they were fine for the price. Waited 40 mins for mains to arrive after entree and it was an embarrassment. I order chicken parmigiana and it was meant to have eggplant on top. The eggplant did even cover a quarter of the chicken. The “potato’s” were one baby potato cut into 4 piece and the salad was just leaves. I got so annoyed and called the waitress and I was told the reason is they were busy. I didn’t pay and told them to take it back. I actually feel sorry for the waiter and waitress they are young and so

Poor service, very bad attitude, below average food. What a disgrace to Italian tradition and food !
I would suggest not to waste your appetite and money. Pizza was soggy, ravioli very bland. Worst of all the owner had the cockiest attitude, and audacity to reply "this is not McDonalds" when asked about order status.

We visited on a Friday night with our toddler and baby. The food was fine but the service was terrible.
While waiting for the menus, we began feeding our toddler. One of the waiters approached us, pointed to my handbag and said we were not allowed to change nappies on the table for health reasons. We thought that was a rather strange comment! I certainly was not going to change my kids nappies in the middle of a restaurant on their dining table!! So i told the waiter the bag is a handbag and not a nappy bag - in case he had mistaken it for a nappy bag!
Then the owner/manager (who was also the

Il Nido has been around for 20 years. It's on Terminus Street, away from the busy piazza area of Castle Towers. There is plenty of parking underneath the building complex. On the night we were there (Friday night) the restaurant was almost full. We were attended to by a young guy who did a wonderful job at making sure our orders were correct, we had our drinks etc etc. He was very attentive, polite, pleasant and even asked if we wanted to order anything else because the kitchen was about to cook for the big group.
We had 2 family sized pizzas and 2 pastas. The pastas were delicious and the pizzas
