Vino e Cucina is an Italian restaurant and bar in Paddington, at the hub of the Five Ways precinct, in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. The European atmosphere is aided by alfresco dining on the street, as well as a more romantic setting out the back. There is also a modern dining setting inside this charming heritage terrace building, with the walls adorned with magnificent artwork by local artists.
Vino e Cucina is the creation of restaurateurs, chef Michael Bengtsson and Julia Walker-Bengtsson, a husband and wife team, who have also created other loved Five Ways Paddington venues Eat Thai and Tuk Tuk bar (formerly Heeley St Espresso). The warm Italian ambience is a result of meticulous attention to detail by these seasoned restaurateurs.

My wife and I dropped by for lunch. Unfortunately the service was less than desirable considering the price tag (~$45 per head) and location. The food looked nice enough on the menu, but we were not going to tolerate poor service from the get go.
Full story:
We checked in and sat in at an outdoors table.
We were unsuccessful in flagging down a staff who seem to be immersed in casual conversations.
Staff was very dismissive when I asked for our table to be cleaned, kind of gave that "you are such a diva look".
When (male) staff came around, to clean he asked "where's the dirt". Interesting

Great food and service especially by Francesca and Manuel. We had the focaccia and truffle butter, mushroom rigatoni, prawn risotto and the beef tartare. Admittedly a little on the pricey side, but everything was great and no complaints as to quality.
You can probably find equally good food for slightly cheaper elsewhere, but you definitely won't have to worry about bad food here.

My partner and I came here for our anniversary and it was such a wonderful night. The venue is quaint and cozy - we loved the open air seating in the back. The food was delicious as well. Good serving sizes and beautifully presented. And to top it all off, the service was amazing. We were greeted by two incredibly kind staff members who wished us a happy anniversary. Our waiter was so helpful and all smiles. Plus, they gave us a free glass of champagne each for our celebration 😊 we really loved our time here and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a top notch Italian experience in Sydney

Very nice venue where you fell like in Italy. The terrace in the courtyard is the best spot.
Food is correct but nothing incredible. A lot of choices on the menu to satisfy everyone.
The service is really quick and the waiters are friendly and careful.
Make sure to have a booking otherwise you will not get a table.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Sydney
Great wait staff, ambience and layout. Feels authentic and Italian despite being in the heart of Paddington.
To start the calamari was delicious and fresh and the crab salad was equally enjoyable. We also got a seafood marina which was exquisite and a must order. They also had a sweet potato fritter special which was fabulous and we ordered another serving.
Pasta was obviously fresh and handmade , and the pappadelle absolutely must be ordered and was a favourite across the board. It was one of the best pasta dishes I have ever had. The fresh fish

Love love loved this place.
Sunday sessions with a live band in the back courtyard.
Greeted upon entry by the staff who had his hands full w on his way to deliver food to a table. I had to tell him to attend to what was in his hands before me. I like that. Not ignored just because they are doing something. To be greeted with Buonesera was a bonus!! True Italiano!!
The front footpath tables, the indoor seating and the courtyard out the back provided totally different atmospheres.
The staff were attentive, yet easy going. Felt right at home and even though it is on the side on pricey, don

This is an interesting one... I went here with a group of friends not knowing where we were going and what to expect. It was "Mad Monday" so $20 for all you can salad and pizza ($10 for kids under 12).
Waiters come around to your table offering you different pizzas and give you one slice of each if you want it. When we told them that 3 of us were vegetarians they seemed openly annoyed by the inconvenience and nonetheless offered us every pizza with chorizo, prawns and ham on it... When we wanted some more tap water for our table my friend saw a tray full of bottles and brought one over

Fantastic Italian restaurant. The entire staff speaks fluent Italian which makes it feel like home for me. The food is fantastic, you can really tell that they make everything homemade. There wine selection is gigantic as well, and carry authentic Italian wine, (Try a chianti). 5 stars easy for a place that made me feel like I was back in Florence for the night.

I love this place! I have dined here twice in the last two weeks. It has a great atmosphere and most importantly, it has excellent food. The staff are attentive yet relaxed and it has a real family feel about it. Great for kids.
I've had both pizza and pasta here and neither disappointed. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. I also loved the shaved cabbage salad with balsamic glaze and parmesan.
This is a great value Italian restaurant in the normally pricey eastern suburbs.

When I got to Sydney I was surprised of how good Asian food was and how terrible was European and Latin American food.
Vino e Cucina is one of those exceptions that confirm the rule.
It's an amazing Italian restaurant with the best pizzas I've eaten in Sydney. They're big, tasty and dangerously close to the real thing.
The staff was amazing, the ones I saw were Italian and the overall vibe was fancy but relaxed.
I asked for the potato pizza, and even if it's not like the ones I've tried in Italy (the potatoes were cut in squares instead of slices) it was pretty good
