Sikkim is where Australian Charity Vets Beyond Borders works with the local group SARAH ( Sikkim Anti-Rabies and Animal Health). They provide the best veterinary care in the state, train vets and nurses and due to their work with street dogs ( vaccinating against rabies and deserving) have made Sikkim a Rabies free state.
Two of our staff members, Dr. Farlie and Nicole, landed in Kolkata, India and started heading to the state of Sikkim which borders Nepal on that exact day. The girls were there to work with VBB's SARAH (Sikkim Anti-Rabies Animal Health) program. They felt the initial quake followed by extensive aftershocks up to 4 weeks later.
Despite the tumultuous weather for this years event, the day was still full of fun and laughter. EBVC offered the crowds free health checks for their pets, microchip scanning and the chance to win plenty prizes! With lure racing, pet parade, storytelling, reptiles and appearances from Peppa Pig and Timmy Time, there was certainly plenty to do!
Thank you to all those that came out and supported the Hughesdale Primary School Totally Wild Carnival. The event was a huge success with the school raising close to $30,000. The funds raised will be going towards fitting out the schools new gymnasium and facilities for the kids. On a hot spring November afternoon, the storm clouds stayed away long enough for the Hughesdale primary school to have a fantastically successful Fiesta carnival.

We recently had to put our beloved cat down and couldn't have been more thankful for the grace, empathy and compassion shown by the vet we had. It's never an easy time for anyone going through that process and the whole clinic gave us all the space and love we needed in order to grieve. Thank you. We have also previously gone in a couple of times since moving here and have been impressed with how thorough they have been with assessing our animals. Will certainly be back.

I travel there 30 mins because I can’t trust new local vet as i moved last year. I brought my cat back there 3 time for vaccination, general check and some skin issues that my cat has. I suppose to revisit next week but i feel it’s going nowhere when my cat still have problems. Until last night i had to rush her into emergency vet and finding out she has heart murmur. The vet at emergency asked me about it I said i have no clue. None of any vet I visited diagnosed her with irregular heartbeat beat that can check through physical examination.
