Willoughby Veterinary Hospital
Established by Dr Peter MacKenzie-Wood in 1997, the hospital has become part of the fabric of the local community. We are one of the few veterinary clinics in the area that are owned and operated by the same veterinarian; meaning that the person that is ultimately responsible for the patients is working alongside his associates' day-in-day-out to ensure all work is performed to an excellent quality.

Our customers know by experience that they can rely on us for sound advice, and that their pet is receiving the very best of care. We believe our key strengths are our commitment to the pursuit of the latest veterinary knowledge, having the framework and flexibility to implement advances, and having a core passion for animals.
Services
We endeavour to provide a comfortable and friendly atmosphere for both you and your pets. We ensure that every one of our staff members participates in frequent in-house and external learning opportunities, so that you can be sure your pet is in safe hands. The team are all caring animal lovers who make every effort to ensure that your family members' visit is as stress free as possible.
If you are unwell or have been to an exposure site, please call us to reschedule your appointment. Please note we are often fully booked, and operate with a waitlist. If you cannot make your appointment for any reason, please advise us in advance so we can offer this spot to another animal in need.
To ensure your puppy gets off to a good start we run regular, on-site puppy classes designed for puppies between 8 and 15 weeks. Like children, puppies learn very fast at an early age. It is important to take advantage of this learning period, establishing good behaviours and in doing so develop a well behaved and socially integrated adult pet.
It is our recommendation that your pets come to to see us for a thorough health check every year. Here we can keep an eye on your pets weight, check the ears, eyes, teeth, joints, skin, abdomen and heart for any signs of disease. As part of a thorough assessment of your pet's health needs we recommend regular vaccination.
Your pet's joints need looking after and it is a big part of your pets care. Large breeds of dogs have been bred to be a lot larger than their ancestors, this puts a lot of strain on their joints and after time, can start to become damaged, especially in animals where their weight is a BIG issue putting even more stress on already strained parts of the body.

First visit.. major disappointment - We made an appointment for my kitten at 11.30am, if an appointment means anything to anyone!?! We arrived on time and presented ourselves to one of the receptionists and were acknowledged. After waiting about 25 minutes outside, on 11.55am I double checked the time with anther lady behind the counter, she said: "yes your appointment is at 11.30 but we are running late." After about 10 minutes later, a young male person wearing a badge "Dr" (perhaps a veterinarian) approached us on the footpath and said: "I am here to have a chat" - well, I needed my kitten to

My puppy was given the wrong dosage of vaccine (over amount too) When I was alerted to the issue they made it seem like it was nothing. When my dog then felt very unwell and in pain they could not see me for a follow up appointment. I took my puppy to another vet and was given advise and medicine straight away. I will never return.

I just picked up my dog after her surgery to remove a cancerous tumour and adjacent lymph node. Ruby saw Dr Peter MacKenzie-Wood. She is in great shape for just one day post-op and has been given a comprehensive take-home package of information, antibiotics and pain relief. All staff conducted themselves with professionalism, compassion and efficiency - Ruby was in for surgery just two days after the initial consultation. I really appreciated Dr MacKenzie-Wood's excellent advice and positive approach and can highly recommend the Willoughby Veterinary Hospital.

We had the first checkup and first vaccine done here. The team is highly efficient and professional, always handle our puppy with patient and care. Make us feel warm and welcomed. So we don't mind travel a bit of distance.

I have needed to visit this vet twice in quite distressing circumstances.
In both cases my dog was attended to very calmly and professionally and the care offered was second to none. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Luke was great? Very helpful and helped with me with all my veterinary needs. I don’t own any animals but I got some treats, they were very yummy. Not sure if they were meant for humans! 😭

Was on a little weekend trip with the boys 🧔🧔and I found this glamour ⛄⛄. Little Fifi and I were feeling a bit nervous 🧐🧐 at first but as soon as I heard my nurse was THE "Luke" 💦💦 all my fears were eliminated. Fifi was right at home in his strong but supple arms 🌚🌚.
Lots of love legends 🤖🤖

Space is amazing, the decor is to die for 😖😖 And the vets are very helpful❤️❤️. One small area of criticism I have is every time I ask to speak to “Luke”👹👹, the receptionist tells me to go away!!

Best vet I have ever been to. Kind and lovely staff, patient and informative doctors. Even though going to the vet can sometimes be stressful for your pet, the staff always make it a positive experience. They are also very knowledgable and it always feels like your pet is in good hands. If you're considering taking your pets here do it!
