Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Nice amenities, set in a historical building with impressive architecture. Not 5 stars because of the pokies on the ground floor though

We came to Ballarat from Melbourne for the Biennale exhibition and we stayed the night in the George Hotel and couldn't have been happier. The staff were friendly, free off street parking, central location and the room was very nice, clean and spacious. Will definitely stay again when we come into town.

I highly don’t recommend this place came here for a coffee with a mate who has a disability the manager was highly rude to him he didn’t see me but I seen they way he treated my mate it was just horrible he didn’t even get a chance to speak and the guy humiliated him in front of people. He said he wasn’t allowed to stay on premises unless he bought something which he was going to but he was waiting for me. From some previous reviews I read this has happened a lot at the George they discriminate against people with disabilities. I believe the manager name was cameron. This guy needs to be

Classy hotel 🏨 & cafe in the heart of the city with old style hospitality architecture with plenty of charm. Must see when in Ballarat.

Extremely disappointed with our meals last night. Ordered a steak sandwich and a lamb souvlaki. Steak sandwich came on the soggiest bread, not toasted. Steak was as tough as a leather shoe, egg still raw, salad wilted. Lamb souvlaki lamb was so dry you could not eat it.
This place used to pump. What has happened? I have had to pick a picture to be able to proceed with the review. Did not stay.

We stayed from a tuesday afternoon thru to thursday morning and the wifi dropped out numerous times ( my own mobile telstra connection was good) which is disappointing for a major accommodation property. The water pressure is pretty average and room size was small.
The property is beautifully presented, the meals where excellent and staff where very attentive plus the location is very good.

This Hotel is very central to everything, and worth the stay here. They have their own Bistro and Cafe. Which is handy, especially if you don't want to go out after being out all day. The Hotel it's self is spacious, clean and tidy enough. But you can notice where cleaning has been missed. (Alot of cob-webs changing from ceiling, window frame, dust on window surfaces, low maintenance work is noticeable, taps, and shower taps/head loose). But please don't let this put you off staying. We loved our room, very Ballarat experience, and we would definitely come here if we're to visit. Staff are wonderful

Booked online for today.Drove from Geelong to find the hotel closed....very kind receptionist explained that the bar/restaurant etc were shut until Friday even though there was no mention of this online when I booked. My booking was confirmed.Do you really expect me to pay 158$ for a room in a closed off hotel when the management cannot be bothered to inform intending guests that the facilities will be unavailable. To add to the poor service, the car park was a few blocks away and the entrance was locked when I arrived.I was then told the hotel was shut until Friday. I refused to stay and drove back
