Ansonia Boutique Hotel
Following recent restriction announcements, please note that If you have booked with an online booking agent, you may also wish to get in contact them prior to the arrival date to cancel or reschedule your booking. The property at the time had frontages to both Lydiard and Armstrong Street and had been developed as a stables and timber building housing a Coach Factory facing Armstrong street.

The two-story section facing Lydiard Street was developed in 1868/9 by Dr James Steward and is listed as having been occupied by Furnvival Chambers and architects Fox and Oakden. The building as it was then housed a bank as well as other commercial investment offices and remained such until the late 1990's when the property underwent major renovations and became the AnsoniA boutique hotel.

Pricey for what you get. Nothing to complain about as it is clean, I guess just needs an update.

Lovely hotel great staff. Stayed here just a little while back. Old world charm. Family had spooky encounter when I was carrying food up to room the door opened before I got there and my wife and two kids (14 and 16) heard it and thought it was me. Very Friendly lol

We were very disappointed. Could hear everything in room above us. Was woken at 4.00 am by lots of noise above. Make sure you don't book a room with another above you. Otherwise very clean and central to main street.

The room was nice and clean. Was a bit put off by the fact the door was already open and the key in the door. The bathroom was nice, but you were either scalded by the water from the shower or frozen. There was no way to get it to a reasonable temperature. The bed was like sleeping on a board. I should have taken a picture of the mattress, but was grossed out by the stains and age. The room was at the top of the stairs and anyone coming up the stairs could be heard from the first footfall to the time they shut their door. Would recommend asking to see the room and look at the mattress before paying

Lovely hotel with a nice atrium as you enter. Hotel staff answered my call and provided us with the door access code for a smooth arrival. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was clean, and the fan and air conditioning kept us cool in the hot weather. Thank you for the experience, and I’ll be sure to stay here again if I ever come back to Ballarat. Also, prices are reasonable. Also, the complimentary breakfast was very thoughtful and tasty!

A great old building. Very spacious rooms. The new couple who are now running it had only just taken over
three weeks before our stay. They were really friendly and had great ideas to improve the hotel. A restaurant would be a bonus.
