Good service, quaint old pub. Hot fudge cake is awesome. Scotch fillet was a bit average.

Very very disappointing. I ordered the fish and chips i couldn't get my knife through the fish and it was very over cooked I sent it back and asked for the fish to be grilled and yep still the same. The wait staff were very good and friendly. I won't say don't go but if you do don't order the fish!

Substandard food and below par service. Fish came full of bones, when staff were advised they did not care and blamed suppliers. Sorry, this is the chefs responsibility.

Called in for afternoon drinks with friends. Beautiful beer garden, great staff who were friendly and helpful. Didn't on this occasion stay for meal but the dinner menu options were varied and sounded delicious. Will definitely return again when in Castlemaine again.

Don't know what has happened to the kitchen here - as I expected great things, but I won't be returning in a hurry.
All food - Sweet Potato Chips, Beef Korma, Chicken Roulade - were obviously reheated - flavours were lacking, temperature wasn't even warm enough, chips were soggy, papadum was burnt.
and not cheap either - $28-25 for a main meal is not what you expect to get someones leftovers reheated.
Please put some more thought and consideration into the meals Railway, your reputation has gone down hill.
I know that times are tough when considering food turnover and customer numbers, but

Beautiful meal. Quaint and Authentic ambience.
Could have done with a little more condiments, but these were supplied when requested. Great dining experience.. and close to Bendigo for a nice evening out.

The pub smelled bad and food was horrible. My husband ordered Spinach curry but it was a bland yellow curry without any spinach!!! I ordered a medium-rare steak but it was completely rare and tasteless. It completely put me off steak. The food and menu on their website was not what they were serving.

It was a nice little cozy pub located in the heart of Castlemaine. The food was delicious, Knuckle Head IPA from Shedshaker Brewing which is also located in Castlemaine was fresh and fantastic as well. Definitely made a memory in my little road trip.

Great place for a meal! The day we went for dinner it was the only place open in Castlemaine and they were super busy! But they sat us down quickly and served our meals without delay! Really huge portions of food and tasty! Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
