My name is Dr Phillip Kay and I am an Emergency Medicine Specialist. As Director and founder of Brisbane Northside Emergency, I have proudly led my team of qualified professionals since 2001. At BNE, our primary focus is to provide you with a great alternative to being seen in a busy public emergency department.
Our team are highly-skilled specialists in emergency medical care. Their combined qualifications and experience provide the degree of capability which enables BNE to provide the highest quality patient care. Dr Phillip Kay was the first Specialist in Emergency Medicine to enter the private sector in 1987 at Pindara on the Gold Coast.
At BNE, we have a most diverse nursing team with expertise in a wide variety of disciplines. Our team are fully-qualified in emergency care, stroke management, orthopaedics, haematology, midwifery and paediatrics, and include lecturers in nursing and paramedicine, research gurus, and wound care specialists.
Hearing other patient's stories is the best way we know to show you the caring and professional services we provide. Doris, a 70-year-old retired woman, presented with acute back pain on her left side. While there was no obvious reason, the pain had progressively worsened over the last 24 hours. There were no other symptoms or significant medical history that would point to a pre-existing cause.
Our experienced team of healthcare professionals treat all manner of unexpected injuries and wounds. Our team of experienced healthcare professionals provide treatment for fractures, wounds and lacerations. The pain associated with such injuries and wounds is often unbearable. It's our priority to relieve this pain in the fastest way possible.

Not sure how often this hospital turns away sick people but after waiting outside for 30 minutes while they deliberated, I was turned away on Christmas Day because my Covid test was 7 days old not 3 days.
The irony of finding no place available in that hospital on Christmas Day was remarkable.
The attendant at HSNPH walked me around to The Prince Charles Hospital Emergency Department where they accepted me and diagnosed me with a painful kidney stone.
I've had good experiences at HSNPH before but this effort was unsympathetic, uncompassionate, callous and extremely poor.

The whole team here was really brilliant. I was at BNE on Friday 1st October and Dr Roy and his team were just incredible, my tests were completed quickly and them the treatment of my injuries was carried out in a really efficient, friendly way, Also consideration was given to my wife who was waiting outside due to COVID ,and I would highly recommend BNE at any time.

The process from start to finish was fantastic. The check in staff, the nurses, the doctors and all of the other support staff were incredible. I had terrible pain from a Kidney Stone and all of them were overwhelming kind, efficient and professional. I felt like I had my own private team, I have been through a few hospital systems over the years and this has been by far the best.

I highly recommend this emergency centre. The staff are amazing; I was seen quickly and received a CT scan and blood test results within a very short time. I was treated by Dr Gajjas and he was the absolute best! Doctor was kind, thorough and knowledgeable. The extra work he did in following up with my specialist was greatly appreciated.

At suggestion of my doctor presented for removal of a thorn from my leg. From start to finish the process was smooth and efficient and Doctors and staff very attentive, caring, friendly and supportive. Still attending follow up consultations at their request to monitor the wound and for infection management and control. Also have received 2 phone calls at home enquiring of my wound recovery which again confirms the care factor. Thanks and very well done Team.
