The 42 acres on the corner of Stanley and Creek Roads, Carina known today as the Clem Jones Centre was founded over 50 years ago by the former Lord Mayor of Brisbane, the late Dr Clem Jones. Dr Jones' vision for the centre was to see that the children of the local community had somewhere to go to enjoy recreational facilities and play organised sport.
The Clem Jones Centre is a wonderful organisation that has thrived on the terrific support of many community minded people over a very long period of time. The centre actually had its very early beginnings when the Camp Hill Carina Branch of the Australian Labor Party requested Clem Jones approach the Brisbane City Council about vacant land in Stanley Road for sporting facilities.
The centre has four swimming pools, including a 50m, 25m, 12m and babies wader pool. This facility now caters for Learn to Swim and hydrotherapy. Please contact the Learn to Swim School on 3324 9391 to book your child in for lessons. The 25m is available for Learn to Swim and Hydrotherapy and is heated to 32 degrees all year round.
The brand new "Terry Mackenroth Gym" is a state of the art facility. The gym is broken into the following rooms providing plenty of space for all fitness levels. Dedicated cycle room. The magnificent "Tour de France" inspired mural will motivate you to ride to greater heights every class. The Air Deck is our stunning and spacious indoor/outdoor training zone.
The Clem Jones Centre Swim School has its very own purpose built Indoor Pool. The 25m Trevor Bishop Indoor Pool is heated to a cosy 31.5 degrees, with the air temperature set at 28 degrees to compliment. It is for the comfort of our students that we have set our air and water at these temperatures.

Go to the Sleeman Centre at cnr of Tilley and Old Cleveland instead. My family were told to leave because I wouldn't share my medical status with a shot nosed kid behind the counter. Apparently they DO NOT HAVE to discriminate but they instead CHOOSE to, he tells us. Great customer service. Never returning and simply disgusted by the lack of intelligence.

Don’t listen to the extreme minority antivaxer conspiracy theorists. Unlike them, I’ve been going to this gym for years. Amazing facilities and staff. Clearly the best gym in the area.

Absolutely disgraceful. Gyms are not required to have vax mandates. This business is purposefully discriminating against its fellow Australians who have been going here for many years just because they are not jabbed. For shame.

Gorgeous in the pool this morning for aquarobics. Along with kids learning new skills, people "lapping", families playing, and then coffee with friends. Happy Tuesday!

Went to go sign up as looking for a Gym with children facilities as I just moved to Manly, lucky I didn't as it states only vaccinated people are allowed to attend, not happy as vaccinated people spread virus just as much, being from Melbourne myself and moving here, I know all too well! So upset about this as the place looks amazing and I really really wanted to join 😓 maybe rethink your decision please management, I am part of the community too...
