I brought in my cruddy Malvern Star step-through with a crunchy bottom bracket, now it's like riding on a cloud.
They called to let me know it would take a bit longer because I had an older-style bottom bracket that had totally disintegrated, they always kept me in the loop with pricing/timeframe, in the end it turned out to be a bit cheaper than the original quote.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to the guys here for being so kind and welcoming - I'm a new bike rider who came in as a walk in appointment after having a bit of a meh experience at another local bike shop.
The technician got my bike fixed up straight away, explained to me what he was doing, and the whole team at the shop were super kind and encouraging. Thanks for being a friendly bunch, and fixing my bike! She rides so smoothly now. I'm looking forward to coming back!

I love how staff know their products. They can tell you pro and cons for your purchase or your fixing option. Then you decide knowing what to expect. No fooling around and I love that.
They have been looking after my very old bike for many years, recently purchased a brand new one that has been recommended by one of the staff member. It is the perfect bike for me I just love it. Thanks team :)

I treat my bike so poorly that I honestly should not be allowed to own one. I've left it out in the rain for days at a time, popped the wheels at least four or five times and even had a whole wheel fall off.
It was the latter that took me to Velo Cycles. I walked my busted bike in expecting a judging look from the staff and a 'tsk tsk' of the tongue. Instead, they immediately grabbed my bike, strung it up and said "this'll take about 15 minutes." EFFICIENCY.
The boys even gave her a brisk polish and fixed some loose screws (I told you I treat it badly) and then gave

I had a flat tire on my rear Tyre once, went there fixed it and brought it back home in my car on a weekend. I rode it to work on Monday which is a 6.5 km ride and at 5 pm when I went to the bike rack get my bike, the rear tyre was flat. So I called them and they told me to bring it back but non of the regular size taxis would take my bike and I wasn't going to drag my bike for 6 km to get to the bike shop or pay more for a bigger taxi. So I fixed my flat tyre at a bike shop nearby which cost me another $22.45. They said that there was a small glass stuck which might have been overlooked.

I'm not a keen cyclist by any stretch of the imagination. I have a pitiful, old bike that spends most of its time rusting under the house and when I took it out for a ride today on the Capital City Trail, the gears on one wheel completely jammed up. Bugger.
I took it into Velo Cycles to see what they could do, and they were able to fix it while I was having lunch at the cafe next door. I was quoted $10-15 for the repair, but they ended up doing it for me free of charge as apparently it was an easy fix.
The ride home was much more pleasant (gears are surprisingly useful) thanks to Velo

Good range of products, but service is poor.
I dont know whether its because they are trying to create an image of an epicentre for bike snobs or if they are just genuinely unable to relate to human being, but I have never had a good customer service experience here.
Too many times have I walked out of there in shock and awe at how rudely I was treated. Today will be the last time.

Velo Cycles is located on one of Melbourne's nost used bike paths so I had ridden by it hundreds of times before I finally ventured in. My bike is really old and although I love it it is now in need of a lot of work. I just don't maintain it properly. I went in and was met by a friendly, knowledgeable staff member who took my bike to their repair area. He came back with an estimate on my repairs to put my bike back into shape and as old and ugly as it is those repairs were actually cheaper than a new bike. I now have a regular maintenance schedule with them and stop it often to get air

I needed to pump my tires and wanted to get my gears checked so I decided to check out this place since I ride past everyday. Went in and I approached the staff, they were super curt when I said hello. She didn't even look at me and very rudely told me to wait. After waiting and having had her walk by me 3x she finally asked what I wanted like I was a total imposition. I asked where I could put air in my tires and she just bluntly replies, "Here." The guy put air in my tires no problem and then I asked about my gears. He checked them and said they were OK but needed a service for

Velo was the first place I visited on the hunt for a new bike last year. The staff there were friendly and thorough when it came to matching a bike to my size and providing general advice. After a few more days of hunting around Melbourne, I was compelled to return to Velo - they were easily the most generous with their time and knowledge and happy to price-match on a bike i'd seen elsewhere for a little less.
I've ridden the bujeezus out of my bike since that day and they've always resolved any issues with minimum fuss. Friendly and insightful staff and a solid range of accessories
