Dayna frequently admired these colourful folding bikes through the front window before finally getting one of her own. Dayna's daily commute rapidly became her favourite part of the day. A second Brompton was soon purchased as a spare - the 'BUB' or Back Up Brompton - in case her morning presented her with a flat tyre, or if the ride needed the wider-spaced 6 speed.
We have three dedicated Demo Bromptons for customers to test ride. These are our key best aides to help determine your preferred handlebar height (Short/Medium/High) and gearing (2/3/6) options. Brompton folding bikes are perfect for the city. Why? Because of its easy and compact fold; you can take it with you in your car, on public transport, to the bar, your friend's place or even to the office - no matter how small the elevator is. By taking it with you, you're also reducing the risk of your Brompton being stolen.
Brompton's history can be traced back to South Kensington, London, 1975 when engineer and creator Andrew Ritchie was inspired to design a better folding bike. Serenaded by the music from the Brompton Oratory (after which our bikes are named) the prototypes were crafted right there in his small, 1 bedroom flat.
Based around a single frame and wheel size, there are three types of handlebar to choose from; combine these with the different saddle, gearing and component options to build your perfect Brompton folding bike. The clever design means that your Brompton can easily be folded or unfolded in under 20 seconds.
