KAOS Custom Bikes was established in 2004 by Andrew Oosterweghel, and continues to thrive as an independent bike shop under the same ownership. With a background as a technician and workshop manager for both Honda and BMW, Andrew is also a highly skilled bicycle mechanic and wheel builder.

I assume KCB does a great trade in high-level cycles, which would explain why they don’t particularly care if they get my business or not.
I went in to have my brake pads replaced. The proprietor took one look at my cheap bike and immediately tried to pressure me into spending more money. He told me that he would not replace my brake pads unless I agreed to pay for further services. The proprietor also suggested that he had a legal obligation to insist on these extra services, based on the apparent condition of my bike. For all I know, this might actually be true, but it sounded pretty scammy

Had one of the most lovely consumer experiences in this store.
A truly lovely store, with staff that not only knew their stuff, but treated me very well.
I had a bike repaired after some time out of the saddle, and the work that was done was great. This store obviously deals in very expensive and lovely bikes, but their was no issue with serving me(on a cheaper bike for the moment).

My bike was making a grinding sound every time I went into a corner. A different bike shop owner told me I needed to replace my front fork (several hundred dollars) and that I should just buy a new bike.
Andrew identified that it was actually the breaks rubbing against the rims, gave my bike a service (which it needed) and it now rides beautifully.

After a phone chat, I visited the shop and Andy gave me well-informed, straight-up, no b/s advice about my options - presenting me with a range of ways to move forward at varying price / quality levels.
I then went back to the shop a few weeks later, picked out my new wheel set, and left my bike with Andy and his team for a service and once-over. Picked it up today and am really happy with the result.

I just noticed Roberts comment. Here's mine. I have dealt with Andrew for years. As one of his customers he goes out of his way to look after all my cycling needs. I buy all my equipment from him and he never charges me for his brilliant labour. Here comes Robert who has not spent a cent with Andrew and he expects Andrew to throw in items on an 80 dollar job. I spent 2,500 on Andrews custom wheels and they are unmatched any where in Australia. I suggest Robert goes back to Kmart to have his cheep wheels fixed. You don't know what you have walked away from Robert. Oh and here is one for you too

Just rode my new BMC SLR01 for the first time today Was brilliant and helped me keep up with much stronger riders The wheels that Andy built are outstanding and the bike handles exactly as it should.
