We believe Pilates is beneficial for everybody and our classes are designed to achieve a wide range of health benefits. These include - increased flexibility for joint and spine mobility - strengthening of the deep core muscles of the back, pelvic floor and abdomen and focused breathing to improve lung capacity, circulation and relaxation.
The Pilates Method is a non impact form of total body conditioning suitable for men and woman, young and old (12 years +) and old, (we have clients in their 70's) regardless of their current level of fitness. Most of our clients attend classes once or twice a week. In the beginner course you will learn a repertoire of exercises which can be practised at home everyday.
Michelle's Pilates Place has a fully equipped Boutique studio in a tranquil rainforest setting. In a private or small group class, an individual Pilates program will be designed to meet your specific health needs and goals. Whether you are new to Pilates, needing to rehabilitate from injury or needing specific athletic conditioning, your studio sessions are tailored to you.
Pilates in the workplace is the perfect exercise for anyone who has to sit at a desk for most of the day. Office workers can develop poor posture creating upper or lower back problems, it can also create a build up of tension in the shoulders and neck and cause headaches.

Other workers who spend long hours on their feet or working with small children are also at the risk of developing a variety of back problems, many of which can be alleviated through postural awareness and Pilates exercises.Michelle's Pilates Place currently runs classes at schools and colleges either after school for teachers and staff, or during school for pupils as part of their sports curriculum.
We use the spring tension of the band to simulate reformer machine exercises. This extra resistance can help to tone peripheral muscles, optimise flexibility and improve joint mobility. Our weights are only 1 kg dumbbells and we use them not to build bulk but similar to the theraband, the extra resistance will help to tone peripheral muscle and achieve a more effective stretch.
