Services
Immerse yourself in a world of opulence and luxury at Freeman on Ford Luxury Bed and Breakfast in the heart of historic Beechworth. Built in 1876, Freeman on Ford was originally the Oriental Bank, once favoured by Beechworth's then substantial Chinese gold-mining population.

Designed in the Renaissance palazzo mode by prominent Melbourne architect Leonard Terry, in recent years Freeman on Ford has seen meticulous renovations in which the building's Victorian Italianate architecture has been returned to its original splendor.Four generous guest rooms in the original bank building are complemented by two glamorous 1930s styled suites, added in 2010.
The sisters immediately set about establishing a convent in the Oriental Bank building. This was the second Brigidine Convent to be established in Australia! Reverend Mother, Mary Vincent Cummins, found that she was expected to repay the money of 1000 pounds. Three of the upstairs rooms were furnished as dormitories and the large garden ran through to Loch Street.
Freeman on Ford provides three tiers of luxurious accommodation options in the central township of Beechworth North East Victoria. All room bookings come with a full hot breakfast using fresh local farm-gate produce (with dishes selected from our in-house menu); and a an afternoon tea with a fully cooked breakfast.
We are proud the Ministers of Tourism both current, the Honourable Louise Asher (2011) and the previous, the Honourable Tim Holding (2007 & 2010) have visited Freeman on Ford. Mr Holding indicated that Freeman on Ford was an amazing drawcard for Beechworth and the North East region. He was impressed with the high standard the property offered and commented that it was a destination in itself.
A historic landmark in itself, Freeman on Ford is magnificently situated in the heart of the Beechworth's Historic Precinct, making it the perfect location from which to explore this unique town. Take in the sights of Australia's most intact gold-rush era streets, shop at exquisite boutiques, and enjoy intimate cafes and nationally renowned restaurants.

This was my third stay at Freeman on Ford. Heidi and Jim make you feel like family as you melt into the luxurious historical surroundings. The rooms have all the things you need for comfort after a day of exploring. You are only a stones throw away from the centre of town. Brekkie is scrumptious and highly recommend having it overlooking the pool!

There are many things to love about this place, but the hosts were probably the best thing. They couldn't do enough to make our weekend away special. We were celebrating my mother-in-laws 80th and they made it such a wonderful experience for her, and all our family. The rooms are amazing and sparkling clean. Breakfast under the chandelier with Jim's personalised service was a real treat. As was afternoon tea by the fire. The 8 of us sat in the lounge and played board games. There are two lovely lounge areas to hang out in with tea, coffee (and port and chocolates) available in both. It was winter

Heidi and Jim were an absolute hall-mark of German and Hellenic style hospitality. My wife and I stayed here as part of our Mini-moon exploring portions of regional Victoria following some advice given to us by some friends of ours.
The food, rooms, the general chats with them and how guests were introduced to one another felt like we were thrown back to a time where good manners and etticute was still in abundance amongst the general community.
Will definitely come back to Beechworth simply to see Heidi and Jim again and to stay at their fantastic BnB.
6 stars from us.

Simply Outstanding – Pure 5 stars. The Freeman on Ford B&B run by host Heidi & Jim cannot be faulted for their attention to detail and service to every guest. With both of them to help with any guest enquiry and local recommendations, you felt well informed without being over sold.
We have stayed at a number of B&B over the years within Beechworth and this was out first stay at Freeman on Ford B&B and we regret not having booked this venue before now.
The choice for breakfast was excellent and the afternoon tea of handmade cakes that is included the price was magnificent.
We have just come

Heidi and Jim, you made our two days very special. You made us feel so welcomed from the moment we stepped inside your door. You treated us like family members and we thank you so much for that. Our blue room was attention to detail from by gone days as was the rest of freeman on Ford. After our first breakfast we couldn't wait till our second certainly did not diapoint so yummy and we'll presented. Our coffee and cake on arrival was to die for. Meeting your friends from Wagga made our stay complete. We wish you both all the very best not only for your business but for your life together. What

We did a last minute booking and Heidi was really helpful. We were greeted immediately on arrival and were given a quick tour of the beautiful property she has spent many years renovating. The room was gorgeous and the bed really comfortable. The shower and room was immaculate and clean. Breakfast was a fruit salad, some juices, scrambled eggs and salmon on pumpkin bread. It would be unfair to rate this property less than five star as a B&B. I think you can book with confidence.

My husband and I had a very relaxing evening at Freeman on Ford B&B with a sumptuous breakfast the next morning. Our host, Heidi, was most welcoming and attentive. So much so, that we intend to return on our next visit to the area.
