All doctors at Como GP studied and trained in Australia and are GP Specialists. Most of our doctors have also completed a postgraduate Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Many have special interests and additional post graduate training in these areas.

Intrauterine devices (IUD's) are small 'T' shaped plastic devices. They are placed inside the uterus by a specially trained doctor to prevent pregnancy and sometimes to manage painful or heavy menstruation. The non-hormonal IUD is 99.2-99.4% effective at preventing pregnancy and lasts 5 or 10 years depending on the type.
Ear wax is part of our body's normal physiology and does not necessarily need to be removed. It coats the ear canal to moisturize it, fight off infection and help keep dust, dirt, and other debris from getting deep inside your ear. However, wax may be considered for removal if the ear drum needs to be inspected to help make a medical diagnosis.
Those patients that do not qualify in these age groups are still encouraged to have a health assessment but these are not bulk billed and out of pocket fees will apply depending on the duration of the consultation. Preventative health checks require a special booking because they involve a preliminary assessment by our nurse prior to completion of the assessment with your doctor.
All doctors at Como GP offer free comprehensive and individually tailored chronic disease management plans. A chronic medical condition is one that has been (or is likely to be) present for six months or longer. There is no list of eligible conditions; however, the Medicare items are designed for patients who require a structured approach, including those requiring ongoing care from a multidisciplinary team.

The reception staff were considerate and friendly both on the phone when booking the appointment and when I arrived at the clinic - on first impressions I was feeling comfortable that I had found a new doctor's surgery closer to home than my current GP.
However, after the appointment with one of your doctors this changed quite drastically. I've never felt so belittled by a GP before - his manner was very condescending towards my concerns. I was caught so off guard by his manner that as I was close to tears, I decided it was best at that point not to advise your reception staff of the poor treatment

Booked in to see Dr, Glen Croft as a new patient since we just moved into the area. Arrived on time and was told to take a seat, no mention if there were any delays or emergencies. After waiting for 40min I asked the front desk how much longer it would be. Got a "you're next"answer. No customer service of any sort, could have told me it might be a slight wait and I could have prepared myself. Waited another 1/2 hour and had to leave since had other business to attend to. Went up and told the front desk I had to leave, please cancel the appointment. They were... Oh ok, I'll let the doc know. No

After some really horrible GP experiences when my son was first born I was so pleased to have found Dr Dowsett at Como GP. She was friendly, professional, actually listened to me and gave great advice. Plus they bulk billed which for me as a single parent was wonderful.
However after going in recently to have an injury looked at (and without any warning whatsoever,) I was charged for a consult. I queried this to reception, explaining that i was under the assumption I was bulk billed. Upon talking to Dr Dowsett next i was informed that its up to the doctor to charge or bulk bill as they choose

Just go to the pharmacy for a flu vaccine.
Got a text about $10 flu vaccine so went there to get one and the Dr suggested that I should get it later, closer to winter time where it's peak flu season and I agreed so I told him I'll get it later. He then told me that I have to pay for the consultation because I didn't get the vaccine so I got the vaccine anyway because I don't want to be charged for consultation fee the next time I try to get the vaccine but I still have to pay for the consultation fee even though when I made the booking I clearly ask for vaccination.
