The Hanging Rock Winery was established in 1983 and is located in the Macedon Ranges Wine Region (Australia's coolest grape growing region), just an easy one hour drive from Melbourne. The property (known as 'Jim Jim') was purchased by John and Ann Ellis in 1982 as a bare block. Ranges they have always had a love and affiliation with Heathcote as a Shiraz growing region.

The most gorgeous scenery and was very relaxing eating our little cheese platter with those amazing views. Watch out for Molly the Bordie Collie, she will melt your heart. The wines are nice, but didn't too much tasting as I felt they were more interested in Selling the wines and platters than anything else, but a good time was still had and the most beautiful relaxing views.

Absolutely beautiful winery experience. Jeff served us and was great with choosing wines we would like and giving us details about the wines but also giving us space to enjoy the beautiful view as we tasted. We bought almost everything we tried and joined their fantastic wine club on the spot. Stunning location, highly recommend

I went with a friend at a reasonably moderate time. We got seated straight away, but that’s the best part. The representative was hot and cold, she would come back with the next bottle, pour it and walk away without letting us know about it. She kept regaling stories about her friends coming to her house and drinking all her wine and how this was a weekend hobby thing - that was the most detail we got about the wine. You didn’t feel like things were in order.

Brought my family this afternoon to enjoy my birthday. Beautiful place and greeted by two adorable bordie collies prior to entering the premises. The young lady who served us was exceptional and very helpful with wine tastings. Left with a dozen variety of wines to take home before enjoying a cheese and beef platter whilst sitting down and overlooking the vineyard. Would definitely come back again.
