The Jody Marshall Dance Company has been in operation as one of Perth's foremost dance companies for the past 45 years. Since its establishment in 1976, director Jody Marshall has developed an impressive reputation as one of Perth's longest running dance schools.
With a staff of high calibre teachers, The Jody Marshall Dance Company offers exceptional training in a variety of dance styles including: jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, classical ballet, hip-hop, acrobatics and musical theatre.All teachers have diplomas in all forms of dance.

Established in 1976, Jody Marshall Dance Company (JMDC) has over 40 years of experience teaching students - of all skill levels, from as young as 2 - how to master the art of dance and become star performers. JMDC is conveniently located in Balcatta, only a short 15 minute drive from Perth. Some classes are also held at the Warwick Community Hall for Pre-Schoolers up to 8 years of age.
Jazz has the most variety, ranging from Musical theatre, to more modern and then commercial jazz which is to the latest music. Commercial jazz you will see in film clips and movies. In Jazz class we provide a highly structured class which involves stretching, strength, progressions, such as kicks, turns and leaps.
Tap is a form of dance which is an excellent way to increase coordination, timing, syncopation and rhythm. Tap Dancing is fun. It is noisy but when you learn how to do it properly the rhythms can be fantastic. The old favourite tap dancers are Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, followed by the more modern dancers such as the Tap Dogs who made the movie Bootmen.
Classical ballet is a formal style of dance with origins that date as far back as the 16th century. In Europe and other parts of the world, each region has their own history and stylistic interpretation of the movement. However, classical ballet itself is typically defined by free-flowing and precise movements, tightly structured choreography and emotional storytelling.

My 5 year old loves her dance classes, she's constantly learning new tricks and coming home excited to practice. Great atmosphere, friendly and professional teachers, amazing technique and supurb end of year performances. I would highly recommend this dance school.

Can’t speak highly enough about JMDC. Exceptional attention to technique and a highly professional teaching staff. Their end of year performances are second to none. The ladies tap class is one of my most favourite hours of the week. Great workout, loads of fun and a wonderful group of ladies.

Our daughter Amaya does the tiny tots classes here and absolutely loves it. She is so excited and eager to come every week. This is now her second year. Seeing her in the end of year concert was so special, and seeing the older students perform was truly amazing. The owner Jody Marshall clearly loves all the students as individuals, and you can see why they call her 'mum of many'. We hope our daughter continues with dance as she gets older and becomes a part of this extended dance family. A really wonderful environment to teach your children the value and discipline of dance.

Amazing dance studio. My 3 children dance at Jody's... my son and two daughters. My daughters especially love to dance. This school teaches superior technique while having fun. Jody's attention to detail when teaching technique is really something. Why go anywhere else. Hands down best studio in the area.

I can highly recommend JMDC, my daughter has danced here for 5 years. The teaching is to a professional quality with a fantastic focus on technique, all while being fun and making great friendships. The end of year concerts are amazing and I especially like the age appropriateness of the routines and costuming.
